"Clean" means that foods don't have chemical additives or preservatives. If you can buy organic foods, they are "cleaner" than non-organic.0

ones which have been though the washing machine ATLEAST 5 times!0

If it doesn't come from a Mom, from a tree or out of the ground it's not clean!0

one ingredient for ex. apple steak. banana rice etc0

Can you pronounce all of the ingredients?
Do they rot or expire pretty quickly? (some exceptions are like vinegar or hot sauce)0 -
It generally means non processed.
So basically if you were to take a bunch of strawberries it would be fine.
But if you were then to take those strawberries and add, say a banana, and put it into a blender, it would no longer be clean.
And therefore it would be bad for you.0 -

Rice can be quite processed. Look for natural stuff... fruit, veggies, meat... things with only one ingredient is a good rule of thumb.0 -

Not true. 2 clean ingredients mixed together are still clean.0 -
I try to eat clean too! Clean foods are in essence "whole" foods, i.e. nothing processed/packaged/refined, no added sugars or fillers. I eat up on vegetables, fruit, protein, tofu, beans, nuts, whole grains (nothing "white" colored). If it comes in a plastic package and made by a factory, then I try not to eat it. Of course some days are better than others...I still can't give up my Kara's S'mores cupcake once in a while!0

Correct.
Until you put them in a blender or add something delicious like cream . . .
Then it instantly becomes bad for you.0 -
Try shopping at Central Market, Sprouts and Whole Foods. They have a lot of clean foods, but read your labels and if you can pronounce everything you are on your way!0

It's pretty subjective depending on the clean eater you're asking. I've heard everything from, nothing processed, to everything organically grown (plant and animal), to no grains (usually paleo clean eaters). They avoid most sugars though some embrace honey (naturally processed is ok, I guess). My advice, find someone who says they eat clean and strike up a friendship with them.
Note: I do not eat 'clean'. I heartily enjoy the 'dirty' foods.0
