So I found out today that my family is going to six flags over memorial day weekend.
I hadn't planned for this, usually we stay at home and do nothing...we might go to the beach or have a cook out but never something like this.
Well Not only are we going to six flags Saturday and Sunday. We are going to the Golden Corral Buffet Friday night.
This wouldn't be bad if I hadn't been binging like crazy lately...I've only gone down 7 pounds Since April 14th because of my bad binges lately..*Sigh*
Anyway I was wondering if you guys had some advice? I'm not going to starve myself or anything like that but in this situation what would you do? Would you let yourself *enjoy* Friday night then just try to be strict eating healthy the rest of the weekend? Or should I try to eat healthy all weekend and not indulge in the buffet? Gahh this is stressing me out more than it should >.<

I would concentrate on filling your plate each time with at least 2/3 veggies and/or fruits. After that, it's all about portion control. Most of the time, things on the buffet aren't really as good as they look. Take a small spoonful of what you'd like to try, go back to your table and try them. If they're bad, at least you don't have a giant portion to get through. Good luck! Just be purposeful, you can do it.0

My main advice doesn't concern eating, but rather where you're sitting. Sit facing anything away from the buffet. You'll be surprised how much this cuts down on temptation. Sometimes your mind sees the food and makes you think you want it when you really don't. The brain (or at least mine) is tricky like that. I would also say go for variety. Try a little bit of everything, so there are a lot of flavors and not just one huge mass of food on your plate. Satisfy all your taste bud cravings so you won't be looking to go back up for more. These are just my thoughts. Good luck!0

7 pounds lost in a month is pretty damn good - just enjoy yourself! Decide in advance how much you're going to have, maybe say you'll only have one plate but just really enjoy that plate and don't beat yourself up over it. Nothing wrong with having an occasional celebration.0

I also think if I get a little bit of food but take a long time to it it that it might help right? Instead of just shoving it down I should take time to enjoy the food?
Thanks for the advice it really helped! =D7 pounds lost in a month is pretty damn good - just enjoy yourself! Six flags is going to be worse than the buffet I think. Hard to find healthy food there. I'd just load up on lettuce, toppings, and veggies for the buffet. Or just get a little bit of everything.0

I say fill up on veggies and face the buffet.
Facing the buffet, you will see the plates of high fat food and the general health level of the people with the big plates. I can't speak for anyone else's Golden Corral, but at mine people drive their scooters to the buffet, walk with difficulty through the buffet, then put their plates in the basket and drive back to their tables. I avoid Golden Corral, because I'm a germ phobe. There are always kids at the dessert bar licking their fingers and touching things. People coming out of the bathroom and touching the utensils.
If I have to go because I'm with a group, I eat the salad bar, it seems to be the least touched section.
I feel bad because my post sounds harsh and judgy, but I am the obese person with a plate full of krab salad, buttery yeast rolls, and Mac and cheese.0 -
Just go and enjoy yourself. One day at the buffet isn't going to make you gain 10lbs. It's the every day at the buffet that does that. I wouldn't even worry about loading up with fruit and veggies. Eat what you like.
One of the places my band plays (a casino) gives us a ticket for the buffet. It's like 100' long with everything imaginable. I stick to roasted chicken, maybe have some prime rib if that is on the line that night. Whatever veggies look good. I avoid the fried stuff. I fill my plate and enjoy my meal. I don't go back for seconds, but that's usually because we're running out of time and have to get back to start our show.0
