Hey someone sent me this link a while ago, I think it's a good explanation of what you are talking about with regards to water and glygogen storage

So true! I always make clients go about 5lbs *below* goal, and *stabilize* there, before going up to maintenance....otherwise it's like being on a seesaw and they just don't get why they keep "regaining"

Always love your posts, girl :smooched:

"The number on the scale means nothing, the number on the scale means nothing, the number on the scale means nothing." I repeat that every time I weigh myself and see a fluctuation.

Thank you so much for this. Most of the posts on here are related to weight loss and not maintenance so I found this very helpful.

I too am a fan of keeping range, rather than a set number. This post makes a lot of sense in regards what I see with my own body day in and day out.

Or you could stop worrying about the number on the scale and concentrate on body composition.

That said, I thought this said "...if you eat more than your CAT." I am disappoint.

So If I want to get down to 110-108 pounds...currently 115. I have to actually get down to 105??? So confused.

Thank you. I feel like I should have reasoned this out (as it makes sense when you think about that glycogen deficit that is created from the initial quick weight loss) but weight loss/weight is so emotional that it clouds reason sometimes.

That is an AWESOME explanation! I think I've known this, because I've seen it with my training patters, and been like, yeah, that's from the water in my muscles, but I haven't connected it to that annoying post diet rebound. So much clearer now.

I didn't know all the science, but I pretty much know that to stabilize at 55 lbs below what I was before I will need to lose 60...

This was great to hear today, because i just got back from a weekend of over-indulgence and gained 5 lbs. But back to business and the gym today! :flowerforyou:
