I've seen it mentioned a couple times. How does it work?

    Cycling calories are the same as any exercise, tell mfp what you have done and the cals you have burnt it will add on to your daily allowance ie 1200 allowance burn 100 cals cycling new allowance for that day 1300 cals, don't be afraid to eat these extra cals if you've earnt them your body needs the fuel.

    I didn't mean that as the cycling activity, but how that kind of 'diet' works. Thanks for the answer though!

    Do you mean as in calorie zigzagging? As in you have a few high days then a few lower calorie days and a few moderate days?

    Are you talking carb cycling? Basically you eat above maintenance on days you workout and below on days you don't.

    ok calorie Rollercoasting as i like to call it works as follows...The human body is Amazing at adapting to every LOW calorie diet you throw at it. But this is a good thing actually....you will probably notice that you are involved with different activities on different days...on your intense days you go about 20% higher then maintenance so lets say your main. is 2000(just an example) you would eat 2400 calories that day to support your energy expenditure next day perhaps a rest day...so -%20 ..1600 next day 2000 again etc. you know a huge party or function is coming up on sat. so friday you eat1200...sat 3000 etc. on this cheat fun day...it works like a charm!

    Thanks for that!!!!! If the person had been more precise and referred to intermittent fasting or alternate day fasting then I would have answered accordingly.

    Fasting days 500 cal women
    600 cals men

    Fasting lasts for 24hrs..

    You should never do more than 2 in a row, or your body will go into starvation mode, ideally you should do 2 per week on non consecutive days.

    Alternate day fasting is not sustainable, as advised in all the info regarding this it is better to do 2 days per week.

    The 5 non fasting days your calorie allowance must not exceed your tde.

    On fasting days you should stick to low gi foods, you should not drink alcohol on these days and you are not allowed to eat back exercise calories on these days.
