should strength training be factored into the calorie counting? when i entered the specifics of my 30 minutes of combined weight work, choosing from the drop-down menus, there were no calories listed to match the activities (like there were for the 30 minutes of elliptical). needless to say, i'm as hungry as a large bear at this point in the day. please advise.

  • I always count it as circuit training all of it. So when i go to workout for an hour 30 minutes cardio 30 minutes strength training. I just say I did circuit training for 45mins cause I've seen here that the cals burned are high on most things on this site. Until I get a Heart monitor that's the best guess I can come up with.

Strength training should count for calorie burns. The best solution is to wear a good heart rate monitor and accurately set it. In fact, that is the only way you are going to get an accurate calorie count on any of your activities. The calorie estimates on this site are ONLY estimates...everyone's individual burns are going to be different depending on your age, weight, and fitness level. And the fun part is the fitter you become, the lower your calorie burns are going to be...gotta keep pushing harder and harder!
  • if you search under the cardiovascular section for "strength training" there is a generic calorie burn based on minutes you can factor in.
