New to calorie counting and MFP

I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Leslie and I live in the DC metro area. I used to be on Atkins but after I lost 23 lbs in 3 months, I wanted to eat normal again so I gained about 30 lbs back in the year or so after that. I wanted more guidance on the best way to lose the weight again so I started seeing a trainer about 1.5 months ago. He told me to start counting calories and using MFP. I just wasn't mentally ready to do that so the first month in training got me nowhere. I finally gave in and learned how to loosely count calories and eat a more balanced diet and to my surprise, the pounds started falling off. I've lost 9 lbs so far in 3 weeks and have about 20 more to go. I work 12 hour days but make sure I eat every 3 hours and do some kind of exercise when I get home at night.

Congrats on your work thus far!! :)

I did WW about seven years ago in college and I lost about 39 lbs. And then I went into maintenance and gained it all back, and then some. Diets don't work for me and I end up going off the deep end after I've reached my goal. Ever since I started really thinking about what I was eating, watching some documentaries and thinking about what my body needs, I've been doing better. My scale isn't working right now but I feel better each day and that's what matters. It's all about changing your lifestyle gradually, then it doesn't seem like work. :)

Keep up the great work! :)
