Protein Powder: Egg vs Whey?

I currently am doing a really intense crossfit-based workout program and am loving it. But because of that, I need extra protein to make sure my muscles have all the food they need. I am drinking Whey protein from GNC, currently, but I heard from a trainer that whey protein powder makes her bulky and she prefers egg protein powder. Thoughts on this? Has anyone else experienced a difference between the two? I CERTAINLY am not trying to get big. I am trying to lose fat and build lean muscle. Any advice or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!!!!

What she might have been nicely trying to say is that whey protein was causing her to bloat, and for some people this can happen. The vast majority of the time it's due to a cheap product, however. If she means "bulky" in a different way, then know that whey protein will not make you gain fat or muscle any faster or slower than egg protein.
Since you are currently using whey protein and are not experiencing problems, I would keep doing exactly what you're doing.0 -
I just bought a protein mix that has 16g protein and 155 calories, vs 23g protein and 130 calories in Greek yogurt, so, I'll still mix in the protein powder once in awhile, but, the Greek yogurt seems like the better option.0

The GNC powder I'm using is 150 cals/scoop and 22g protein - and I like getting that high amount of protein with low calories and basically no carbs or sugar. I think my body is going through transitional stuff bc I just started this workout program a month and a half ago. The trainer suggested that I needed to have an additional protein shake on days I work out because she doesn't think I'm getting enough protein currently and it could be hurting my muscles rather than helping. Gotta keep 'em fed! Thanks so much for all the advice! Keep it coming!!!0

You won't do wrong listening to what tomg33 said. You won't grow bulky because women tend to not have as high testostorone levels as men. With that said, to add something else, if you ever get bored of drinking a shake to increase your protein, don't forget you can eat more protein from another source as well Protein shakes aren't anything magical, but a convient way to get the calories/macronutrients that you need.
You mentioned your GNC powder is 150 cals/22g protein. If your looking to lower your calories a bit more in your shake, Vitamin Shoppe has a protein shake I enjoy that's 110 cals/24g protein. It might not make a difference with 1 scoop, but for 2 scoops, the 80 calories saved would let me enjoy another snack0 -

One gram of protein is 4 calories. You can expect a gram of fat and a couple grams of carbs for decent "whey concentrate" so 110 calories is pretty good (and standard).0
