I'm 5'1 and have gained weight ever since I moved back with my parents. There's always a ton of junk food around and with work I don't have time to prepare meals. I'm always on the go and don't pack enough food so by the time I get home, I eat whatever I lay my eyes on (usually chips, ice cream, and fruity candies) my diet sucks but I don't wanna deprive myself. In college I would try low carb or another fad diet and would end up binge eating. I've lost weight not thinking about food but eating less. I wanted to do that again with a 1200 cal diet but I always go over by 400-500 cals which tells me I'll only gain weight. Should I eat the same food everyday to make it easier? I'm thinking 2 subways sandwiches 6' and dinner with family with little carbs. Snacks consisting of fruits and vegetables. What will make this easier? I want to stay in my caloric intake. One thing I think I should do is plug in what I eat before I eat it to check if I can eat it. Its just hard so I end up doing it at night after I eat everything. Please help! I'm.looking for some quick, easy, low cal meals. I'm Pakistani and eat lots of healthy pak food which is thin wheat bread and rice with curries consisting of chicken and vegetables. If I eat like a Pakistani I prob would lose weight but if mom doesn't cook, there aren't any meals so I'll snack.

PS. I need to lose 6 lbs. I'm not in a hurry. I hate running! I loveeee dancing though but that doesn't burn many cals.0

You may want to consider walking, riding a bike or doing a little work out. You could just cook meals as there are many great and easy recipes out there that will keep you satisfied and are healthy. Perhaps once you start cooking and making a difference your parents will follow and not have so many "bad snacks" around for you to munch on. You can do it and I wish you luck as I know it is not easy............the thing is also to eat good fats: almonds, peanut butter and so on.......0

If you like dancing I have heard Zumba is pretty amazing and burns a ton of calories.......or if you have Comcast Ondemand you can check out fitness work outs and they have dancing ones. Things may not burn a lot of calories but every little bit helps.....0

Did you put that you wanted to lose 2 lbs a week when you filled out MFP? 1200 calories is quite low and with only 6 lbs to lose I'd suggest putting it at .5 lbs a week. You'll have more calories to work with that way usually. If you're going over consistently at 1200 it might be too low for you. Of course it could be the proper amount, but without more information it's hard to say.
As for what to eat...you can lose weight eating anything, even junk, if you stay within your calorie goals. I weigh as much of my food as I can to get an accurate idea of what I'm eating and I've started having 1 serving size and then waiting 15-20 minutes. If I want more, whether it's carrots or chips I'll have more if I have the calories for it.
You might get some good feedback if you have your diary open and can give info like age, weight, height, etc.0 -
If you like dancing, try Zumba. It is seriously amazing. I went to a 50 minute class tonight and burned a little over 500 calories! It's not hard to catch on to at all. You should think about trying it!0
