I use ankle weights every time I use a workout video. I have used them with 30 Day Shred, Ripped in 30 and now with 6 Week 6 Pack. I find they add a little extra resistance and make the workout a bit more challenging. I have never had an issue with them and I like the fact that they add a little extra burn. Mine are only 1.5 pounds a piece, so they arent very heavy. Where did you hear that they are bad for you to use?0

I`ve been using 2 lb ankle weights for weeks now while walking/jogging. I also carry 1.5 lb weights in my hands too. They are working fine for me, making my walks a bit more challenging while burning some extra calories.I also have a set of 5 lb weights for my back kick exercises and you can really feel the burn, when before I had no results.Just wanted to add that ankle weights were recommended to me by a fitness trainer so I can`t see them being bad. I would also Like to know where you heard that?0

They're fine as long as you're not doing high impact cardio (ie, running or something like insanity). In that case, the weights put excess load on you joints and can lead to long term damage without providing any significant benefit. If you experience any pain in your knees or ankles after using them I wouold discontinue use.0

Why would you want to add additional stress to ankles? Unless you are training for a sport I cannot understand a benefit in doing this. This may also add extra stress on your knees so don't worry about it. You will get much benefit from using them I don't think.0

most scuba divers in dry suits wear them....prevents being inverted by floaty leg which is never much fun.....0

Hi,
When I was in high school I used to be a taekwondo varsity. We train EVERY.DAMN.DAY. wearing those dreadful things the whole time. Doing 45's, roundhouse and all the other kicks.
The only time we can take them off is when it's time to spar and yes, it makes a hell lot of difference. I get to kick faster and my footwork is amazing.
That was back in 2000 - 2005. My ankles never had any injuries of some sort. As long as you pick the weight that is not too much for you that's fine.0
