I purchased some Fiber One bars because they were on sale, they are low in cals, and figured I would try them as an on the go snack. Plus, hey! Who couldn't use a little more fiber in their life? (...fast forward...should have just stuck to my usual on the go snack of an apple)

For about a week I would have 1-2 a day.. Until I got tired of the gassiness it caused!

Its been over a week since my last bar and almost the same amount of time since I've had ANY "movement" in the bathroom. My lower stomach is appearing bloated.. I'm feeling kind of gross and full all the time, and I'm not sure what to do at this point. Before these bars I was completely regular... All they've done is cause problems! Ive been drinking tons of water and still nothing. :(

Any recommendations on what else to try?

At work we called the "Fart Bars". Wow, 2 a day is a lot!! Too much fiber can bind you. Your best bet is to drink lots and lots of water.

You should be able to eat them again - just not so many. Maybe 1 a day or every other day and make sure you drink lots of water. That goes for anything that has a lot of fiber in it not just the Fart Bars.

Happened to me too so I banned them from my household. I thought they were supposed to be good for you, not make me look like I was 6 months preggo!

It just has to get out of your system naturally. I couldnt find anything to make it better myself unfortunately. Maybe try Biotin supplements (good for digestive track) and/or some probiotics?

    Good luck!

There is such a thing as eating too much fiber. LOTS of water, a gentle laxative if your intestines really don't want to give up. And cut back to just 1 bar a day.

I don't know if it works for anyone but at one time I was low on iron so I decide to drink a glass of prune juice each morning. It was just a tiny 4 oz glass but I had to work from home on day 3. I don't know how Exlax stays in business with prune juice on the shelf. Sheesh! :noway:

What type of gentle laxative? I know some have a bad reputation.. Maybe a tea??

I'm going to be honest, I had the same problem :(
I initially tried Fibre One bars bc I "couldn't" seem to "go..."
ONE bar had me going w/i an hour and after tht the sm result as you...TOO MUCH/TOO MANY :(:(:(
Needless to say I've not touched a Fibre One bar in while--they are "tasty" but hey, I don't need tht much fibre bc wat i noticed was although i got 'results', it made me gassy n i hd ALOT of discomfort even though it hd "did the job"

I've started just eating a cereal n the AM with at least 4grams of fibre n incorporating more veggies into my diet. It seems to be doing the job for me. A friend of mine also suggests protein drinks tht hv high fibre but i think the key is don't over do it. You only need so much AND drink plenty of H2O. Good luck :)

Yeah, I'd suggest Senna tea as well.

I"ve been having the same issue of irregularity and still couldn't pinpoint the cause. What helped me this past few days to eat the following:

Nature's Own - Specialty Double Fiber Wheat - 2 slices
All Natural - Peanut Wonder Original - 2 tablespoon
Greenwise Flaxseed - 2 tablespoon ground

I'm not sure if the fiber in the bread or the flaxseed that did the trick but it helped - a lot. The peanut butter part was just for the taste. LOL.

Increasing your fiber by too much too fast will do this to you. Try taking a probiotic supplement. Don't add any more fiber until you get regular again, you'll just make the problem worse. You can also try colace, it's a stool softener. I took it when I was pregnant and it always did the trick. I'm sorry!

Easiest fix is go buy prune baby food. Eat one (2oz container) before meals until issue is resolved. Should only take one or two containers. Fiber one bars are filled with junk. many health foods are. Drink lots of water and you should be back to normal within 24hours.

Just a note: I wouldn't go with apples/applesauce/apple juice if you're "backed up". Apple stuff is a part of the BRAT diet used to treat diarrhea so it would most likely cause more of a back-up.
