5:2 diet

Hi all,
Not been on for a while. Been doing Weight watchers and at first it worked but I keep falling off the wagon (weekends are my biggest problem) so i've started wondering if the 5:2 'fasting' diet might be worth a try. heard/read all good things about it!
Anyway, are any of you doing it? And if so how on earth do you manage to have only 500 cals in a day?
I'm a very lazy eater/cooker so my weekday dinners tend to be quick and easy things, none of which seem to fit into this!
Any suggestions?
Maybe this isn't one for me after all.
Thanks

There's a 5:2 group here on mfp that you might want to join
I did alternate day IF to lose my weight and was doing low calorie fasting days every other day. At first it was challenging, but after I figured it out I was able to do them with no problem, and actually started enjoying the simplicity and extra energy I'd get on my fasting days. Now doing a 350-400 calorie fasting day doesn't phase me at all-there's just a learning curve you need to get through0 -
I am on my second week of the 5:2. There is a forum for this - very interesting - on here.
I have found it easier than I thought I would. Never thought I would manage on 500 calories a day! I have my first meal between 1 and 2 pm - Oat So Simple pot, made with water.
Second meal around 4;30 pm or if I can stretch it, when I arrive home from work at 6 pm - a Weight Watcher can of soup.
Third meal a little later (or when I arrive home from work, dependent on if I had the WW soup earlier) - either another soup or cereal.
I do my fast days on Mondays and Thursdays. Oh and interestingly, so far the days after the fast days, I'm not Hank Marvin as I thought I would be0 -
Great thank you. Did look for a group but couldn't find it. Where would I find that?0

The search function is your friend! There's been quite a few threads about this recently.
Where in the world are you, I can make some suggestions for ready meals, or feel free to have a look at my diary.0 -
I'm doing it - I preplan, and for me that's the key. I find I can eat quite a lot, surprisngly, but I do cook from scratch. I have macro targets of minimum 14g fibre and min 40g protein for fasting days and so far I've been able to meet those. I have four small meals a day - latish breakfast, lunch, early evening and mid evening. Low calorie vegetables, a small amount of fruit, and the lowest calorie protein I can find (prawns, chicken, and white fish). My diary's open to friends so you're welcome to send me message and look if you like, but it isn't quick/convenience stuff so may not be much help. What I can tell you is that I don't go hungry, and I do enjoy the extra indulgence on other days!0
