Why am I still not losing? I am even gaining some days! My diary is open! I know I need to work on eating more, but when I try, I gain! And I feel like I have to workout everyday just to even maintain! I did measurements last week and don't see anything there either.....

You need to start exercising. Even if it is a 20 minute brisk walk each day. Every little bit helps. I love cutting the grass, so I do that along with my other exercise. Also, remember that when you first start to diet, don't restrict yourself TOO much or your body will go into starvation mode and begin to store everything you feed it.0

I know you will receive a few comments telling you to eat more, but before you even consider that, you need to ask yourself whether you are logging correctly. If you are not recording everything you consume, and weighing solids and measuring liquids, then you are very likely underestimating what you eat. The other common mistake is counting too many calories burned from exercise. MFP tends to give inflated figures for this so it may be worth only eating back 1/2 of your exercise calories.0

I do exercise. 4 times a week. I am doing the 20 day shred right now long with 6week/6pack abs. I do measure food and liquids. Like when I cook with olive oils I measure the tablespoon/teaspoon0

I also found an app for my phone that has exercises and calories burned based in my weight0

Pick one day of the week to weigh yourself and stay off the scale the rest of the week.
When I looked at your journal I didn't see any water logged so it might be a good idea to make sure you are getting enough in, especially if you are going over on your sodium.
Another poster suggested that you need to make sure that you are weighing and measuring your foods instead of making estimates. It really does make a big difference.0 -
I have reviewed your diary and found the following to be POSSIBLE issues :
you are logging "cleaning and mopping" as exercise - unless you are doing a very LARGE room on your hands and knees with a cloth, cleaning is everyday "work" your body is USED TO. Unless you are doing LOTS of HEAVY cleaning that you NORMALLY wouldn't, don't log it.
There are VERY few WHOLE foods in your menu. A lot of what is there is packaged foods. Try eating more whole foods (fruits, veggies, lean proteins) - they will be lower in sodium, higher in fiber and all the other goodies. You don't have to cut the other stuff out completely, just WAY down and temper it with GOOD for you foods that aren't processed.
do more "deliberate" exercises. AT LEAST 30 minutes a day for most days of the week - unless you are going all out, rest days are optional (if you sweat a lot, breath heavy, challenge muscles, take a rest day somewhere in the week)
I forgot to look at your water, but get MINIMUM 8 - 8oz glasses each day - on days with higher sodium, tip back more water.
Also, as someone else posted, REALLY measure your foods and all liquids that contain calories, and don't get too comfy with MFP's caloric burn that it gives you as it is seriously over on most things. You may be consuming more than you realize and/or burning not as much as you think.0 -
I had a look at your diary, very brave of you to open it up :-)
Your sodium is quite high, but without knowing what weight you are at this time, or even height it is very difficult to say if your calories are right for you?
Also exercise...every little part of it are important to allow people to give advice.
`We` can all lose weight, and that includes you x0 -
Hi,
First thing, DON'T give up! I have been woking to an exercise / diet regime since January. Good results so far, but I dont see weight loss every week either, Some times I increase a few pounds - it is disheartening - but if you keep going and stick to it the weight does come off and your size measurements do reduce through time. Maybe not as fast as we would like, but all the research seems to say that weight lost too fast just goes back on again.
I have been doing weight training and cardio sessions. I have found that my weight comes off better doing more cardio and less weights so have adjusted accordingly. Also, planning what I eat ahead makes a big difference. If you have healthy snacks and meals ready you are far less likely to take the easy and usually hi-carb / hi-fat option. For me, It is really important to add more veg to my diet but cut down on the potatoes, pasta and bread. I have porridge oats in the morning, which are slow release energy and the 'best' carbs for your health. I try and prepare my main meal with chicken/beef stew/roast pork and 2 types of non-starchy veg.
Lunch could be an omellete or a salad or the occasional wholemeal sandwich. btw I have not cut out pasta and potatoes completely but I do not have them every day now.
The above is working for me. I have lost 20lbs since January, and have dropped 2 clothes sizes. I have recently gained a little weight but my measurements are the same - I put that down to the weight training as my strength has increased quite dramatically.
Cardio has helped greatly, I completed 6 hour mountain hike at the weekend - the first time I have attempted that kind of thing in 30 years!
So dont get down, keep doing the right things and the weight will come off. Keep exercising and dont eat junk, cut down on the carbs.
God Bless,

log your food, make good choices...and put the scale away for a month! You really can't tell a thing by weighing yourself every day. Fluctuation is normal...even a couple pounds or more...and you'll just drive yourself nuts by focusing on it. Go by inches, or by how your clothes are fitting...but don't weigh yourself for a good long time. You'll trend in the right direction if you stick to your diet and exercize guidelines.0

Thank you all! I will try your suggestions! Someone asked my current weight. It's 166lbs and I'm 5'11. Salt is a problem. I do love fruit through and do eat it daily! I do drink water all day, I just don't log it. Thanks for tellingly me not to give up also! I did log cleaning.....I've seen others log it also. I did work up a good sweat doing it, but I guess I shouldn't log it. Both my kids are doing baseball this summer on different nights so I do have nights i just can't workout. I thougt about working in the morning on those days....like jogging/walking just to get my exercise in!0
