Polar HRM - Syncing to Different Chest Strap?

I had a Polar F4 with a T31 CODED chest strap. I recently upgraded to the Polar FT7, which came with a FlowLink Coded chest strap. I hate the FlowLink chest strap and would like to use my T31 chest strap with my Polar FT7, but I can't find anything on the internet that tells me how to get my FT7 to work with the coded T31. The only thing I can find is information that says that my T31 chest strap is compatible with my FT7. Not helpful! I can't find a manual for the T31, nor can I find someone who tells me how to link the two anywhere - not even in the reviews on Amazon or on YouTube.
Question is; Does anyone know how I can get my T31 coded chest strap to work with my Polar FT7 watch?
Thanks!

Maybe a stupid question but have you looked at Polar's website or called Polar support?0

Um, you put the chest strap on.. and push start on the watch and it should get a reading. I don't think you have to "link" anything.. if it's compatible, it should do it by it's self.
It's also not a flowlink strap.. It's a wearlink strap. Flowlink is what you buy to upload your data from the FT7 to the computer.0 -
I have searched the Polar site, Googled to try to find the manual and yes, I put the chest strap on and hit "start" and it did not sync with the chest strap.
I haven't called Polar, but it looks like that's what I'll have to do.0 -

Can you detach the transmitter on the old strap? If not, then it prob. won't work.
All Polars now come with a detachable transmitter that I believe only works with that watch... so I'd see if somehow you can detach the old transmitter or just get used to the new strap. I don't find them too be that bad actually.0 -
Did you ever get an answer to what to do I'm having this same problem.0

The chest strap for the FT4 and the FT7 are completely different. The transmitter from the FT7 will not fit on the strap for the FT4 the spacing is off.
The reason I know is that I took a class that used the FT7 and instead of using their strap I wanted to use my own but the transmitter was bigger than the FT4.0 -
Have you tried starting a session with the watch and strap setup together. Make sure you hold the watch very close to the strap at first. I have the FT80, and I have 4 different straps, the coded signal usual handshakes with the watch when starting a session. I hope this helps...0

Have you figured this out? I'm having the same problem with my polar RCX30
