Hello everyone!! Happy Memorial day!

I wanted to start adding smoothies into my diet... healthy and easy, and tasty!

What do you usually throw in your blender?

Thanks for your input! :D

I have one for breakfast almost every workday. I work really early and it helps me have something I can eat when I get a moment. I put it in a small thermos and it stays frozen almost all day.

    1 banana
    almond milk *unsweetened
    frozen blueberries

that's the base. Depending on what else I have, I have been known to add carrots, spinach, strawberries, or kale. <--- just don't go overboard with the greens or it won't be pleasurable to drink.
  • I posted something like this yesterday:

    I've had a smoothie every morning since 1998 and I always make exactly the same one ;

    0% fat free yoghurt (vanilla)
    4 strawberries
    12 raspberries
    20 blueberries
    half a pink grapefruit
    50g oats
    glug of cranberry juice

They keep you going for around 3 hours before you need a snack.

Just had Dr. Oz's Breakfast Smoothie (3 day detox) 1 cup water
    1 cup raspberries
    1 banana
    1/4 cup spinach
    1 tbsp almond butter
    2 tsp lemon juice

It's about 300 cal....but very filling (I didn't have the almond butter so i used almond milk (1/2 cup) and cut back the water to 1/2 cup).

Just got a Nutribullet this past week, so I've been experimenting with the following:
    Kale
    Pineapple
    Apple slices
    Raspberries
    Watermelon
The resulting drink is actually quite filling. I can't wait to try more fruits and veggies and some different combinations. I use coconut water or unsweetened almond milk.

I also like to blend half a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast with various things, like the strawberry flavor with fruit or chocolate with a banana or some peanut butter. Nice, quick breakfast or snack. I always use unsweetened almond milk, but I'm going to give coconut milk a try.

My favourite is very simple- I usually use it for my 'second breakfast' after a hard run- 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup raspberries, and 1 cup of almond milk. Sometimes I'll divide it all in half to get enough for a small snack instead.

I got a big bunch of arugula from the farmer's market last week and made a couple smoothies with that: Arugula +Milk + Fruit (pineapple, strawberries raspberries) + a little bit of agave nectar if the fruit isn't ripe enough.

I've also done mango+avocado+milk, honeydew+milk+mint+lime juice (makes a good cocktail if you add a shot or more of midori), pear+ginger+milk. All of these are pretty tasty and filling.

Also check out these recipes. It ran in cooking light last year and has some pretty interesting combinations

I do a scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1 chopped banana, 1/2 cup of frozen fruit (this week's is mango,) 1/4 cup spinach, 1/2 cup skim milk,1/2 of whatever low-sugar juice I have on hand, and 1 teaspoon of granulated stevia.

This is my post-workout smoothie. The carbs and protein help my muscles heal and reenergize me.

One of my favorites is a half of a cup of plain or vanilla Greek yogurt, two tablespoons of creamy peanut butter, one sliced banana, a teaspoon of honey, a cup of milk, and a few ice cubes blended together.

    Delicious.

I do different varieties that are similar to the ones already posted. I'll just add that sometimes I add oatmeal so I feel fuller.
