Im around 260lb never ran in my whole life, but bought myself a treadmill (due to having agrophobia and not going outside alot). Im on week 1 day 3 and today I ran a whole 1 minute without feeling like I was going to die on the spot .
Now obviously I know this isnt a huge acomplishment to most people...but to me this is great!

That's awesome congrats ! Did you us C25K app? I have looked at that app MANY times but just don't know. Can you tell me a little how it work?
Thanks0 -
I think it's a huge accomplishment! Congratulations. I bet you will find that the program will really strengthen your soul as well as your body. Some day you may be an outside runner. Good luck!0

YAY!!! That is a huge accomplishment!
I started c25k at about 285, it took me a month to be able to run 60 seconds straight, but it was so worth it. The first time I did it I was so excited I told everyone I know. I'm on week 3 now.
Add me if you want :happy:0 -
Well done I think you should be proud of yourself, I remember the first week of C25K, im now on week four and running for five .inutes and the achievement is wonderful. I started just like you, so keep going and one day we will both be running for 30 mins.:bigsmile:0

I was just as excited when I started. I have a c210k app. I am on week 9 and ran a 5k without stopping last weekend.0

YAYYYAY!!!
The fact that you're so excited is so RAD! Great job and keep it up Sugar!!!
(side note: I'm 231lbs - started at 276lbs when I started C25K and LOVE IT! So keep up the good work!)0 -
Congratulations!!! That is a major milestone! :-) Keep at it, there's more to come!!0

That is so awesome. Brings me back to my first minute of running. I was 215 when I started.
I graduated C25k in February and have a 10k coming up on Saturday. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish through the program!0 -

I am using C25K app and am loving it. Real user friendly. It tells you when to start jogging, when to start walking, when to begin cool down and when training is over. I start Week 2 day 1 today. I have been running on and off and am finding that this is just what I needed to help on my speed and endurance. Try it, I love it.0 -
I understand this!! Running for a minute when the last time I ran previously was in 10th grade is a MAJOR accomplishment!0

There are several apps. Mostly they coach you through intervals. So you go out with your phone and it tells you to walk for five minutes and then run for one minute, etc. You just do what it says (Slowly. Run slowly.)
Pick three days a week to do the program, and it will progress you through longer intervals until you are able to run for 30 minutes in week 9.0 -
I'm doing C25K but I'm running it outside (I figured if I was going to run a 5k it be outside not on a tredmil). I just started week 2 but I was more than estatic when I made it through the whole minute still breathing normal0

Congrats girl! That is a very big deal. And you will only get stronger and stronger. I graduated the program and have ran a full 30 minutes about six or seven times now. I am still happy every time I achieve it because I used to not be able to run a minute straight.0
-
Well done, your awesome! Keep up the great work chic x0

Great job, I too started with c25k and loved it when I finally was able to run the whole 30 minutes, it will happen before you know it!!! Keep up the great work!0

Congrats and you should be proud of every achievement along the way! I am doing the c25K program too. I started week 5 today. I am worried about the 20 minute run this week on day 3 but think I will attempt it Saturday morning before it gets hot. It is supposed to be 90 here in the next few days.0

I'm 53 and about the same weight range.
Last summer with MFP I lost 30+ pounds and during that journey I picked up an APP that took you from couch to 5K in 9 weeks.
It works
Ran my first 5K last September in about 38 minutes, no walking!
I plan to do the same this year, but I'm getting an earlier start.0 -
Pfffffffffffft! Its always great to conquer something new! Congratulations! :drinker: :flowerforyou:0

Wonderful job! That's a great feat.
I use the app too, and did Week 3 Day 1 today. When I finished the first 3 minute run I had my hands up in the air.
There's a group on here too, if you want to check it out. I've gotten some good advice. People are in all stages of the program
