This made me curious. I'm 9 for ankles and 15 1/4 for calves. My lower legs are one thing I like right now on my body. I've still got about 40lb to lose so the other numbers aren't so hot.0

Before I look for the tape measure, I have to say, I love my legs. As anyone on my friend list for long enough knows, if I'm feeling down about anything I post a leg pic because it makes me smile.
8.5inch
15inch
And I love them. Perfectly curvy and lovely. I could stare at them for hours.
[last pregnancy they swelled up like balloons, so I may soon have very different measurements...]0 -
Ankles are the new thigh gap.0

I thought this was a joke thread. I really did.
Ditto! It has never occurred to me to measure my ankles!!!0 -
Ankles are the new thigh gap.
No, they aren't.0 -
Don't fixate so much on specific body parts that you cannot change. My guess is that you're the only one even noticing.
My ankles are 9.25" and my calves are 17.25"... but I like my lower legs.0 -
Ok so this just made me too curious. I think my ankles are pretty thin but I'm sure they look that way because my calves are big (played soccer from 5-16) and its genetic, my moms legs are pretty much the same.
Ankle - 8 1/4
Calf - 16 1/2
Told you my calves were big! :laugh:0 -
I'll add mine for comparison sake. I'm 5'5", currently weigh 172 lbs. My ankles are 9.5" and my calves are 14.5".0

My ankles are 8"
calves are 14"0 -
Thank you to everyone for your helpful comments. You all really helped me put everything in perspective. I appreciate it!0

Ankle - 11.25 inches
Calves- 17.25 inches
I don't like my ankles either But if they are near average, that is something at least! lol0 -
I'm 5foot 4inches and my ankles are 6 inches around and my calves are 9 inches around. You sound pretty normal!0

Little birdy ankles aren't all that great. I have to punch extra holes for the buckles in any shoes with ankle straps. :ohwell:0

I had never measured my ankles before, I always thought I had pretty skinny/normal ankles, but I was super curious after reading your post:
So I am 5ft 4in; 116 lbs:
Rt ankle: 8 in
Rt calf: 13.5 in
Lt ankle: 8.5 in (my circulation is worse on that leg - as I found out during later pregnancies when only that ankle would swell with fluid retention)
Lt calf: 13.5 in
I think your ankles must be pretty normal!0 -
Good god. I have enough things to worry about without adding ankle size to the list.
Ditto.
Same here0 -
I have never thought about my "ankle size" before.... thanks! Now one more thing to cry about every day! SABATOGE!0

To the people thinking it was a joke.....
Well, sometimes when we're growing up, people tear down our self-esteem about certain features. I have body dysmorphia about my calves (among other things) because when I was a child/teenager, my mom and sisters constantly called attention to them and the fact that they were big or were going to be big. And now I am still self-conscious of them.
My mom also did things like predicting who had her bigger build and comparing them to the smaller girls. My whole family did, actually. I mean, when your own brother says you have a body type like Sasquatch, it's hard for your self-esteem not to take a hit.
So, you have to realize that when taking into account why others are sensitive about certain features.0
