Calories not burned for strength training on Myfitnesspal?

My name is Derek and I just started using the myfitnesspal website I think its a great tool, I weight lift 5 days a week, but it doesnt show that you burn calories, only when you enter in some type of cardio training....is this right or do I have my defaults set wrong? So when I hit it hard in the gym for 30-45 min it would be nice to see some of those calories added back on the home page. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

  • There's a help topic on this, but the program doesn't register caloric loss on strength training because it can't take into account things like rest periods.

There is a "strength training" entry under cardiovascular exercise, but that's a rough estimate.

    Cheers!

Do you use a heart rate monitor? If you do, just put the calories in under cardio. Strength training or circuit training entries are good estimates without the HRM.
