Why a banana before a workout?

I've seen so many comments about people eating a banana 30-60 minutes prior to a workout. I'm just wondering what makes this the go-to snack.

Bananas are high in potassium -- which can prevent cramping. Also, they are a good source of carbohydrate for energy before a workout!0

simplicity... and its light.... most fruits are good options
if u function better fasted, don't eat til after.0 -
