Greek yogurt packs in the protein. Also, grilled chicken strips or a can of tuna is good on top of salad.0

No clue if there is a safeway store near you, but the Lucerne brand sold there makes a greek yogurt that has 2x protein it. A cup of the plain nonfat mixed with a scoop of protein powder would be a good boost for you. 19 grams of protein from the yogurt, 24 or so from a protein powder. I struggle with protein intake myself, and that is one way I like to get in. And it's not like a shake, so you might like it.0

You may want to switch brands of greek yogurt - yours only has 4g of protein a serving?? That's pretty low considering Fage has 17g a serving or thereabouts.
This... I was going to say the same thing about your greek yogurt being really low on protein...
Do you have a Ralph's or Kroger grocery store near you? Their carbsmart yogurts are low-cal and have at least twice the protein as the yogurt you are having...0 -
I'm sure some of these have been mentioned... but as for vegetarian-friendly choices, I like seitan, lentils, chickpeas, black beans, quinoa, almonds, pumpkin seeds, greek yogurt... and omg peanut butter. lol :P
Edited to say: Oh! And Chia seeds are good too- I often add them into oatmeal, smoothies & shakes.0 -
threres liqud protein shots that you can pick up for a couple bucks..hover around 35 per shot..there pretty nasty tasting but then again most shots are..tuna..yogurt..chicken..and youll be on your way without killing the calorie intake0

Also, if it's just the shakes, you can get protein powder and add it to other foods too.
^ Yeah! When I get chocolate protein powder I like to mix it with milk and make hot chocolate ^_^ It does taste different than real hot chocolate or even just chocolate milk, but if you find a well-flavored powder it'll work nicely! You could also bake certain things with it
I would also recommend tuna, chicken, turkey, egg whites (but you'd need a lot of these), fat free cheese, and greek yogurt Before I had whey protein powder I would reach my protein with greek yogurt, mostly. Maybe try looking at my diary for ideas Although now I almost always have a shake because I love it with ice, milk, and some ground coffee ^_^0 -
I also go over protein... but, I do consume protein shakes/whey.
Other things I've found helpful:
1. Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breasts
2. Vacuum packed Tuna (rather than in a can)
3. Greek Yogurt (I prefer Chobani 0% fat)
4. Eggs (minimum yolk/no yolk)
5. PB2 from Bell Plantation http://www.bellplantation.com/
I mix PB2 into everything. Make 'green smoothies' (plain chobani 0% fat, spinach, and whatever else I feel like), throw in some PB2 and sugar free preserves or banana and you've got an awesome smoothie that DOES NOT taste like spinach. I also put BP2 in my oatmeal.
6. Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast packets - not as much protein as whey protein powder, but given I'm not a huge whey powder person (unless it's really blended), this is a great alternative to getting protein into my system. I use it in coffee, oatmeal, smoothies. Also does a heckuva job managing my incurable sweet tooth.

1 cup of cottage cheese has 26g protein and 180 calories. I put pineapple chunks in mine or salt and pepper you can also and it to scrambled eggs when you cook them.0

It's interesting about the differences in Greek yogurt. I just picked one of the two brands they had in the local shop and wondered why everyone had raved about it being such a good source. A lot of the brands recommended aren't available in Australia, any Aussies know of a good one?
I will bump up the lean meat and eggs more and see what happens
I'm not an Aussie, but I just did a Google search and you aren't lying. The brands I found so far (George's and Noosa) have nowhere near the protein they should! I wonder why they are so different from the Greek yogurt here in the States...

the spookiest thing happened though after reading all the advice on this thread. I went to the shop and there was Chobani greek yogurt. I swear they've never stocked it before!

I have really taken a liking to fish lately and they are loaded with protein and are very low on calories. A couple of pan fried talapia fillets on a bed of spinach is my favorite dinner and it fills me up nicely. Good luck to you.0

My husband bought a big box of microwavable pork rinds. They are actually pretty good and when they come out of the microwave they are still sizzling haha.
For every 60 calories you get 10 grams of protein and there are 3.5 servings per bag. So if you wanted to eat the whole bag for 210 calories you would get 35 grams of protein for a salty snack.
I gotta lot of love for porkrinds as a low-carb snack, but I don't count them toward my protein goals because they are collagen which is not a quality source of protein.. Most porkrinds even say on the package *not a significant source of protein.0 -

Try Moringa Leaf Tea , it's 32 gm protein/cup and only 4 cal , it helped me to hit my protein target without going over my calorie

Ran across an article about protein snacks and didn't realize this was so high in protein.
Worth a mention.....
One cup of edamame, or boiled soybeans, contains 17 grams of protein, 8 grams of fiber, and 189 calories. A perfect snack all by itself! Serve hot or cold, season with salt, and enjoy.
