British accents are my weakness, well,British men in General. ;-) Especially ones in the Royal Navy...always did love a sailor0

I mean, Redneck might sound lazy, but there is a difference between a Southern drawl and a Redneck. On an unrelated note, my dad says water, like warter, lol. Its so cute. He's originally from St. Louis.
Oh no.. not Redneck! LOL
Now Cowboy talk.... a different story! :drinker:
YES!! Cowboy talk makes me weak in the knees... *drools*0 -
Born and raised in Ohio, no accent here. LOL. My brother in law is English, and I hate his accent. If I can understand you with your accent, that's a plus, but I can not understand 80% of what my brother in law says. GAH!
not being able to understand someone is what usually irks me and probably why I don't think the accent is hot.0 -
Yeah! Very true every region over here does have its own dialect, the highlands and Aberdonians are in a world of their own, closely followed by dundonians (Dundee) then the weedgies (Glaswegian) then comes my lot hehe as we are Fifeian lol as we fondly call ourselves we have a mash of a dialect but i think it's the easiest to understand even though I'm told different hehe x0

French,Italian,Texan,Bristolian,Welsh and Australian is hot!
Im Irish! so I do quite like the Irish accents on guys but Im biased haha!0 -
Also love the laid back sound of the Jamaican accent. German, Eastern European and Russian accents. Gotta love those accents. Love the French accent too but only when spoken by women. And much as I'm not a fan of the Aussie accent, listening to a hot Aussie woman talk makes me weak at the knees.0

other than thick accents from the NE USA, I'm good with anything.
Whaddya mean? We don't have accents. We landed here, remember? Then everyone moved away and started talking funny...
Seriously, though: My husband tells me all the time he always wanted a girl with a Boston accent. He loves it.
Me, I appreciate most accents -- except Southern US. That does nothing for me.
Your husband must think you're hot as hell!0 -
Shouldn't it be about the PERSON and not the accent they grew up to have?
Doesn't everyone have an accent to someone else?
Somewhere in NY state, that is the only place that there isn't an "accent" according to how the news media is set up.
Now, are those that hate accents saying these are the only 'voices' that are ok?
Nothing like starting off a thread bashing over 50% of the people on her with something that they cannot help without years of lessons and practice.
My 'accent' is completely muddled. I guess nobody would like me then
Wow this was created just for fun. Way to create an issue when there was none to be had. So do us all a favor and get over yourself. If you see something you do not like you do not have to reply, leave the rest of us to enjoy the thread in peace.
Edit: The only bashing done here was by you. If you had read through the posts you would have seen that.
Now THAT was the funniest part about the whole thread.
Sure, i can move on, but I also can be sarcastic and myself.
However, I wasn't the one that posted in the first place asking for people's opinions, now was I? Nothing to get over if I never had an issue in the first place. Grow up darlin', I was just a jokin'.0 -
People create memories of accents and the person they first met with it (or saw on the media). For me an Irish accent makes me happy (hubby is Irish) and South African accents convey warmth and competence, because a number of my SA friends are just that.0

I know you weren't responding to me, but I am the OP, so I feel the need to respond. I created this as a fun thread in the chit chat section, asking what accents people thought were hot. I was in no way, shape or form bashing anyone as claimed.0 -

Right about where I'm from, actually (near Buffalo, NY). I've heard they used to have a newscaster training center in Buffalo or something like that? This has been said to me many times living here in Virginia: "You have no accent at ALL. I'm confused. Where are you from?!" Now, I know that to people outside the US I have an accent (I'm not one of those US-centric "omg I have no accent!!!" people), and that the way I talk can be kinda strange sometimes, having grown up in a small hick town close to the Canadian border, and moved around quite a bit. However, if I'm just talking, and not nervous/excited/drunk, you'd be hard pressed to figure out where in the US I'm from because I'm so completely neutral.
Anyway, I actually dislike New England and Long Island accents. They're like nails on a chalkboard to me. I love many English accents, as well as South African, Australian, and NZ.0 -
I love French, Spanish, American and British.
I think we (Aussie's) sound soooo lame hahah0 -

Some people just gravitate to agression as they are fuelled by people having opinions :laugh:0 -
