I have been doing it daily, but recently I had a reading that I had gained 5lbs. Now I know that I can't gain 5lbs in a day and that it's just water weight but that really frustrated me. So I have decided that I will weigh in less often. I think I won't do it again until July 1st and see how that works for me.

I step on the scale and log it every day. When it's down, I love it. Makes me happy, helps me to take note of what I did right the day before. When it goes up, it motivates me, challenges me, helps me to reevaluate what I did the day before. It usually makes sense as to why it went up or down.

Me too!! I step on the scale in the morning and before I go to bed.

If it goes up, I figure out where maybe I went wrong (maybe too many carbs, or I've had rice). It doesn't really discourage me much, I'll just work harder the next day :)
  • I weigh every day and then take an average so that I end up with a weekly weight. Gives me a better idea of my losses throughout the month.

I weigh every day after my morning workout, but I only log it on Tuesdays (my official weigh in day)

I step on the scale every night and I read its not bad to do it daily. Sometimes when I did good the day before I also weight myself in the morning to see a 'low' number and then I'm happy lol.
I also try to wear nothing so I don't stand there wondering how much my clothes weight :)

I'm one that steps on my scale every morning. I've read no, only once a week, the same day each week, at the same time wearing the same clothes, or no clothes. My weight fluctuates a couple pounds every couple of days. How do I break the habit of weighing myself every morning, when my mind has to be conscious of what I eat and making sure to exercise since I have a very sedentary job??? UGH

Why bother "breaking habit"? Just do what you do and do not worry about it

I weigh daily, for much the same reasons as you. It suits some of us, others it does not, bit like food / diet, do what suits you and not some idealistic goal

I totally agree. I weigh everyday and that helps me keep on track as well. Why fix it if it's not broken???

Ok. I'm so glad I'm not alone. Here I was feeling guilty for weighing everyday.

I just broke myself from the habit of weight 3-4 times a day 2 weeks ago. THAT helps me quite a bit.

I am trying to break the habit of 3-4 times a day!!!

    3 times a day.

I like to make sure my deficit is not too high or small.

I "TRY" to only weigh in once a week.
However that is not usually how it goes.. Sometimes I will weigh in in the morning and if my weight is up from previous days I end up weighing myself 3-4 times over that day to see if it was an error or if it went down.

If weighing yourself is something that you feel like you NEED to do, then record your weight every day on a graph. (get some graph paper, or just use your fitness pal app.) that way you'll be able to see where your average is traveling over the weeks. Up or down. :) that's what I do.
