Insanity and then some???

I just started Insanity and I am 11 days in and I am really super bored with it since you just cycle through the same exercises, but, I can already see some results as my arms and chest are becoming more defined. I start the abs work today and although I am usually sore after the workouts, I am wondering if I should add anything else other than my daily activities?

I exercise daily (prior to Insanity) and I follow a healthy diet although I do love me some candy and snacks, but I limit what I eat and I record everything and use my HRM. I am always under my calories at the end of the day, but I don't feel like I am losing any weight. Is it more likely that I am toning and building muscle and therefore not really seeing any weight coming off yet since I am now following a pretty strict regimen of working out? I am just wondering, as a beginner, who is overweight and currently making significant changes to my health and workout routines, if I should be doing anything else in addition to Insanity?

Don't do a workout program if it bores you. Really, you are better off just finding something you enjoy doing. I loved doing Insanity, it didn't get boring because I could push myself with every workout.

I finished Insanity and now do a hybrid, mixing in P90x. If you do want to continue doing Insanity, maybe cut it down to 3 times a week instead of 6 and do something else 2 - 3 times a week? Dancing? Spinning? Running? Whatever you like, I guess.

I have a terribly short attention span for most any exercise and it is a personal challenge in itself to actually continue any sort of routine. There have been a few days where I have not pushed myself, but I typically finish the exercise drenched in sweat and exhausted. I am incredibly limited as to what can be done because of the nature of resources where I currently live. I want to see this through because it will be a HUGE success for me to do it and do it well. Just because I am bored with it doesn't mean I haven't been challenging myself.

How about checking the local gyms for boot camp or HITT (high intensity interval training) classes?

I don't own a car and the public transportation here is a joke. I am seriously not making excuses here, because if I had a way to make it to a gym and could afford it, I would. At my home university, I have access (and a car) to a state of the art facility with amazing and fun classes like belly-dancing, spinning, and hip-hop dance classes. Here, we have a broken down field house that was destroyed during a typhoon and such old and worn out pieces of weight equipment, they are useless half of the time. I started doing Insanity because it seemed like the easiest way without having access to a gym, etc and an effective way to build strength and get in cardio..maybe I was a little too dramatic on the "really bored" part. I'm getting into the second week and moving onto new routines, so hopefully it will help. Life on a tiny island is a bit different.
