Your fav low cal snack?

  • Aloha,

I like to eat a parfait once in awhile, like a treat! Its sugar-free jello with layers of sugar-free whipped cream.

A snack I eat a bit more often is a couple pieces of sugar-free candy or sugar-free Popsicles. My husbands fav snack is plain popcorn, he can eat that all day and hes beating me in weight loss. I really think the secret is moderation, and exercise. My nutritionist told me to only eat a complex carb on workout days, otherwise it goes strait to my butt..... Haha and thats a problem, so I like an extra banana on workout days.

If you have never tried hummus, give it a shot. Original style hummus is yummy and 60 cal for 2-TBSPNS. Match it up with Townhouse Flatbread crackers - olive oil with sea salt are great - 8 crackers for 70 calories.
So 8 crackers and 4 TBSPNS Hummus are 200 cal (OK - 4 crackers and 2 TBSPNS are 100 cal).
This snack cuts your hunger and hangs with you a surprising time.

If you do not know, hummus is a paste made from chick peas - mostly protein and very good for you, as well as Yummy for the Tummy.

String cheese, a piece of fruit (my favorites are an orange, apricot, banana, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, apple), an apple w/ peanut butter, a cup of whole milk (the fat in it keeps me full for hours, only 150 cal), carrots with hummus dip. Its a lot of calories but sometimes I just slice an avocado, grab a spoon, and eat. Mmmm. :)

I try not to eat a lot of processed food or fake stuff.

Jayone Roasted Seaweed. Only 30 cals per package. Satisfies my cravings for oily/salty potato chips, and seaweed has minerals that are good for the thyroid. :)

Apple w/ Greek Peanut Butter Dip
2 oz plain greek yogurt or vanilla
1 T peanut butter - creamy or crunchy
Mix til smooth eat with sliced apple. YUM YUM!!!!!!!!!!

Just finished having apple slices with vanilla yogurt and a little bit of pb mixed in. YUM! I am a peanut butter fiend and this is a great way to get the peanut butter flavor with fewer calories.

Another dip I do with fruit - mix together some low-fat sour cream with a little bit of brown sugar and some vanilla extract. Delicious!
