The gym vs home DVD workout programs?

I am a home workout program person I have nothing against gyms I just could never get the motivation I needed in one and was on a budget so putting out $45+ dollars a month was a lot for me.
Anyway I've done program like Insanity P90x body beast revabs etc. and have got amazing results faster then I would in a gym.
But my question is what do you think is more beneficial to a person the gym or a home workout program like P90x etc. and why?

Even better, make a workout for yourself at home that is better than is found on the DVD's (not particularly hard to do).0

How would you know if you don't/didn't go?0 -
For me, the gym is usually better, despite the fact that right now I'm doing home workouts and not going to the gym. Two main reasons: first, I found it easier to consider the gym just like any other appointment I might have. I marked it on the calendar that it was a gym day, and I generally didn't skip out on it. Second, I find motivation in others around me. If I'm on an elliptical machine and the person beside me is working harder than I am, I tend to work harder. That all being said, I'm finally starting to get into the habit of working out at home, so maybe later on down the line I will decide I like at-home workouts better.0

They have gone to the gym the first little part talks abuot how they could never get the motivation while they were at the gym, which would mean they would have had to have gone. I agree with the money aspect but the gym is more fun to go to when there are other people you are going with to keep you on track. Otherwise I just wander around trying to remember why I'm there. If it's jsut me I prefer to work out at home.0 -
The best workout is the one you actually do! It really is a preference thing, I`ve had routines set up for me at gyms where I was supposed to use those big machines but hated going to that section of the gym because I felt uncomfortable, so I either did the routine too quick (not paying enough attention to form) or didn’t do it at all. I do love the group classes at the gym though, and have had lots of success with that, because I actually do it.0

The best workout is the one that you will do, and you will enjoy. Everyone has their preference.0

Lol no big deal man mind if I ask what kinda results have you seen at the gym? I am thinking about doing two rounds of body beast then hitting the weights at the gym 3 times a week.0

It really depends on what your goals are.
I dropped a ton of weight (215 down to 163 at my lowest).
Waist from 38 to 32.
In college when I walked in I was 174, 33 in waist, 215lb bench
Walked out at 172, 31 in waist, 285 bench.0 -
I agree with redhead and abeare (hope I didn't misspell that): the best workout is the one you will commit to whether it's at home, outside or the gym. I have been a member of a gym several times and gotten great results and loved it. Till I got bored. Right now I am working out at home with exercise DVDs and I love those. Or I will till I get bored. For me, what works is changing up my routine when I start to get bored.0
