Never heat aspartame (the sweetener in diet 7-up), as it goes through a chemical process that makes it toxic to humans. Only the sweetener in splenda is stable at high temperatures. Heated aspartame has been linked to brain damage and can be the cause of mental illnesses as well as linked to dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

If you must have cake, just eat the sugar. At least the extra calories won't destroy your brain.

If that's true, what about putting sweetner in coffee?

Coffee is a usually consumed at a much lower temperature so maybe the issue is not there. Baking is usually 425 degrees or so, so aspartame may very well become toxic from heat like that.

Aspartame is toxic in any form, hot or cold. Sad that it's so prominent in "diet' foods.
