Sneakers wearing out inside by the heel

Seems just when I get a pair of sneakers worn in, the fabric starts to wear in the inside back by my heel. Sometimes I'll have to wear a bandaid over my heel under my socks to prevent from getting blisters.

Any suggestions? I've tried several brands of shoes and it happens to them all. Is there a product I can put in the back of my shoe?

What brands are you trying? you should not have to "break in" good shoes, so that is one thing to think about. I have never had that happen before, but maybe you can buy the inserts to put in your shoes?? Do you use them for running??

I would guess the fit is not right and your heel is slipping more than it should. I've never had that problem, and one of my feet is slightly smaller than the other so I know that one slips a bit. I wear Asics. Maybe for your next pair, go to a good running store and have them analyze your feet and your gait and see what they recommend.

I've tried Adidas, New Balance, Reebok. I use them for walking. I have not tried inserts.

Lisa, I know my heel is slipping. I wouldn't think that my foot is narrow though. Going to the running store is a good idea.

Yep, happens to me on every pair of trainers and running shoes i buy. Asics, Brooks, Nike, Adidas... And it has happended regardless of size 8, 8.5 or 9 for me. For me it happens in my right shoe first and then my left. Both of my heels have a bit of a "knot" that sticks out just above the heel bone, the right one a little more than the left so I'm assuming that what causes it. I thought this was happened to everyone.
  • How long are you wearing your sneakers for? Are you running a lot of miles? I suggest a new pair of runners every 4 - 6 months.

ETA: You shouldn't have to "wear in" sneakers. You should ensure you buy the proper fit.

Ha e you experimented with different ways of lacing your shoes? (Straight lacing, crossing etc) since I changed mine, my shoes fit a lot better.
