Carne Asada Burrito = Hella Sodium and Hella good!
I can eat like crap and go from 155 to 168lbs in a day.. Don't stress about it. The weight will be gone within a week.0 -
I recently saw a post where someone tracked their weight EVERY DAY for a period of time and then made a graph with it. It was neat to see the fluctuations and the overall downward trend. I personally am more worried about the overall trend than the day to day fluctations. This being said. I started my own chart this week to weigh every day and then only "log" my weight (on MFP) on Mondays and it went like this:
Mon - 169.0
Tue - 168.0 so down 1lb
Wed - 168.2 up .2 lb
Thur - 169.0 up .8 lb
Fri - 166.2 down 2.8lb!
Of course I hope I am close to my Friday # when I log on Monday but if not I am not too worried about it. I've also learned/been told that our bodies naturally fluctuate up to 5 lb in a day so I wouldn't be worried if I were you.0 -
Eat some fiber. Sounds like you have a giant food baby!0

Other thing that I'm not sure has been mentioned yet is - where are you in your cycle? I started looking at my weight fluctuations against my menstrual cycle, and now know there are certain times of the month that I just don't weigh myself....0

If you have been keeping carbs low, you can gain alot. Glycogen storage. When I carb loads, I can gain 10 lbs + in <24 hours. Goes away after a few days. Just carry on as you were.Water, tea and bananas can all help flush out the water weight. It's happened to me.
I only recently learned that carbs, especially simple carbs like bread and sugar cause water retention. Anytime I see a fluctionation on the scale that does't match my calorie "overage" from the past few days I remind myself of this and check my macros in MFP.
Green tea, bananas, and water with lemon for about three days is what it takes for me. I don't step on the scale for at least three days after a high carb day unless I am simply monitoring the effects of my food choices.0 -

If you have an android phone there is an app called Libra that allows you to track daily and shows all kinds of stats including the overall trend line. I love it..keeps me from freaking out about a large fluctuation and/or stalls.0 -

This was my first thought. You just need to spend some quality reading time in the bathroom.0 -
Before you post topics there is a choice at the top called "search" maybe use it next time? :flowerforyou:0

Oh no at this rate in 10 days you'll gain 60 LBS!!!!!!!
Calm Down, Relax and just be0 -
It's the carne asada burrito (yum!) and probably the soda. The sodium content is so high in both of those. Don't worry, it'll go down again but it may take a day or two.0
-
I did that. And then I started my period.0

dont trip on that.
go back to eating right and maybe even focus on an extra day or two of eating PERFECTLY to make up for it and balance it all out.0 -

Well that was really rude. She can ask a question if she wants, if everyone just used the search there wouldnt be questions coming in.0 -
This thread really made me feel better about that 2.5lb gain in 1 week! THAAANKS!0

OH They forgot to add the TDEE. it would be 21000 + TDEE = 6lbs
It's 3,500 calories to BURN a pound of fat, not ADD one. It would actually take more to add one.0 -
Ohhhh, the joys of water retention. That's why I stay off the scale for weeks at a time. Our monthlies, a burrito, crackers, anything with sodium will increase retention. I ate sushi last night with soy sauce and I am retaining water like crazy.
Just drink a lot of water and you'll notice yourself tinkling like crazy. Mother nature is a crazy heffa.0 -

This happens to me all the time and yes, you can retain a lot of water weight from eating high sodium foods. My record is 7lbs after one night of gluttony. Drink lots of water, go back to eating normally and the weight should disappear in a day or two. Keep in mind that if your period is close, it might take even longer to lose the water weight as you may be retaining water because of that.0

Here's an idea:
stop weighing yourself more than once a week.
it's a mind f&%* you don't need.
This
I know girls at my gym (its an all girls gym) who weight themselves two and three times A DAY!!! Its craziness.... I try to stay away from the scale altogether - but now that I will be keeping track I'll have to stand on it at least once a week. No matter how good my clothes fit or I look that dammed number always gets to me.... I agree that is has to be water weight and starting over after a couple days itll be gone....0 -

That's why there is the TDEE in there.. 3,500 calories ABOVE your TDEE. so if your TDEE is 2,000. To gain 1lbs it would take 5,500 calories.
It would take more than 5,500 because there would also be the calories involved in storing the fat.0 -

You're right, it would take 5,500.5482032 kcals Round it up to 5,501 calories
...if your body stores every calorie it consumes...0 -
And my scientist husband taught me the memory aid:
"A pint's a pound the world around."
(please no comments on how Imperial Pints don't have an Imperial Pound equivalent)
Water weight sure adds up fast.0 -
What you need to do to get rid of water retention quickly is eat 10 packets of sponge fingers.
