I like country. And yes, the radio-pop-hybrid version of it. I also listen to regular pop music, rap, and oldies. Love me some Luke Bryan... could take or leave the music, but I saw him on stage and he can shake it for me!!! :blushing:

Funny cuz he sings, country girl shake it for me girl.....

    I know my country music!

I think my sister likes him, or something like that. I know I've heard the name...

I absolutely, positively LOVE country music. Give me some Carrier Underwood, Tim McGraw (so hot), The Perry Band, Alan Jackson, (I can go on) any day.

love all music...the only kind I would 'prefer' not to listen to is some of the new rap. always had a soft spot for country....nothing hotter than a man in a cowboy hat that can play a guitar and sing :) but hey...I got everything from Keith Urban to Korn in my car. It all depends on the mood.

I dislike country music because I always imagine a really twangy voice playing a really twangy guitar but in college I was exposed to some pretty good country music and it is tolerable. :)

I like it sometimes. I think most things on the radio all sound the same and boring to me though. And that's not just country, but pop stations and rap stations as well.

I love most genres of music.I love country music, makes me want to go to the beach, pop open a beer, dance and make out lol. My boyfriend hates it, says it all sounds the same and makes you want to kill yourself lol.He loves metal and I can't stand that "music".I think that sounds all the same lol.I guess it's just a matter of taste.

I was never a huge fan until recently. I'm still not a huge fan, but I enjoy it quite a lot. I've discovered, in my old age, that what I really want from a song is 1.real instruments, 2.a nice melody, 3. lyrics that I can understand, and 4.an absence of swear words. Country music delivers those things, lol. It's not the top of my list of preferences, but it's worlds above rap and hiphop and trance and pop-diva stuff.

^Pretty much this. I'm entirely tired of the electronic sound that is in todays pop music, including the voices. I enjoy listening to actual talent. I mostly like Hank Williams...all of them:) and Waylon Jennings but you have to have a pretty thick skin to listen to some of their songs.

Some people hate country because of all it represents in terms of politics. But many modern country artists are not signing about the politics.

They are singing about how they lost their cats and dogs and trucks and girls and mortgages.

I feel like you can ignore the politics and just enjoy the art.

My political views do not align well with the artist's but it takes a great person to rise above that and enjoy the art.

That one's alright. Over the years I've had to learn how to stomach the stuff because it's all my family and a former roommate listen to
  • It hurts my ears.

Gimme some George Strait any day. That man is in his sixties and he is damn sexy! Will also take Merle, Willie, and Alan, but y'all can keep Taylor.

You can also keep Sugarland and the awful woman that 'sings' in it with her fake accent and nasaly voice.

I dunno, way they grew up maybe?

I love country, my favorite country artist being Charley Pride, I was raised with it. My dad rarely listened to anything else lol. But my mom on the other hand liked pop and alternative but not much else, brother was huge into rap and my sister listened to everything so I ended up loving all kinds of music.

My opinion of country music is similar to my opinion of Mexican food. It's nice enough, but I don't crave it.

  • Oh, George's new song makes my heart melt!! Give it all we got tonight.... Love it! So romantic :blushing:

There are some good songs that come out of Nashville but they are few and far between. Little Big Town makes consistently good music, and Eric Church's "Springsteen" was certainly a good song, but for the most part, Nashville pop music is a lot more about commerce than art. That said, there are some wonderful country music and musicians out there; you just won't find them on CMT. Son Volt, Holly Williams, and Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell to name just three have released truly outstanding records this year.

The Civil Wars? Yes. Johnny Cash? Yes. Willy Nelson? Yes. (particularly if he's covering Coldplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S2KJIf1UC8)

Taylor Swift? No. No No. Brad Paisley? No. (seriously, what is up with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a_-JIr6MUs)

To me, new country is trying too hard to be pop.

I dislike it because it's very sad. Usually it's about getting drunk, suicide and people dying, or breakups. I like music that's upbeat with a good tune to dance to.

If I do listen to country, I usually pick the older stuff that my parents grew up with. I hate most modern country, I suppose I should say. I'm usually okay with some pop country too. :P
