Eating the same thing everyday

So I am thinking of eating the same thing every day for breakfast and lunch. I think this might be the only way to stay disciplined. I could switch it up from week to week just so I don't get too tired of the same thing. Is there anyone else out there that does this and if so, does it work for you?

I basically eat almost the same thing Monday-Friday just because that's how it seems to work out best given I work full time. I cook chicken in bulk and leave it in the fridge. I recommend changing it up the instant you get bored so it doesn't become "chore-like" to eat. While my breakfast snacks and lunch tend to be the same, dinner always varies.0

I tend to do the same thing. I will eat the same foods for a couple of weeks and then change it up. It helps me stay on track.0

I eat pretty much the same thing for breakfast every day - porridge with blueberries in the winter, granola with yoghurt and banana in summer.
For lunch I often eat leftovers from the night before. Quite boring, but it works for me.0 -
It's VERY easy to become malnourished. After a certain amount of time it will become IMPOSSIBLE to stick to it because your brain will do everything to force you to eat different. The problem with strict diets/unhealthy diets is that they are literally impossible0

If I something that works, i stick to it. However, eventually your body will get used to it and you may hit a plateau. I look up new food recipes online and try to juice for breakfast or before a workout. It gives me energy and keeps me satisfied. Also, the great thing about it is that I can use different fruits and veggies.0

I find it helpful. My breakfast is nearly always the same, and there are little variations to my lunch. I find it easiest to cook a lot of food on my day off and freeze it into individual portions. That way I always have choices on hand, but since I only cook three or four dishes, there isn't a huge selection. That way I have a good idea of what my count will be for the day and can plan for goodies.0

Strong first post, from someone who hasn't lost a pound yet.
I eat the same breakfast/lunch most weekdays, and I'm fine with it. It takes out a lot of the guesswork, and it's filled with enough fruits and vegetables becoming "malnourished" isn't an issue. Nights and weekends, I vary things.0 -
I eat just about an identical lunch every day and have for the last 5 months. My breakfast seems to vary a little more in that it depends on which cereal I have to try to finish off this week (bought a lot of boxes of cereal on sale before I started my program and now need to burn through them) The biggest issue I see is that if you do the same things all the time you have to make sure it is nutritionally balanced because that is it, you can't make up for it the next day with something that offers the parts not in today's meal.0

I tend to eat the same breakfast 5 days per week...but really, I did that before...my breakfast is just more nutritious now. My lunches and dinners vary as they always have...but just tend to be more nutritious now.0

I don't have any sources or links, but I know I have read multiple places that eating the same things regularly makes it easier to lose weight because you don't have as many decisions to make, fewer opportunities to fall off the wagon, so to speak. It also lets you shop in a way that keeps less variety in the house, making us less likely to snack. You certainly do need to make sure that you are getting proper nutrition with enough variety of fruits and veggies, but if you have a single "menu" for breakfast every day, one for lunch, and you eat the same snacks each day... then vary your dinner, you should be fine. Especially if you are switching up those "regulars" each week or so.0

Monday to Friday, breakfast and lunch are the same. I just find it easier than trying to figure out what to have each day. The evening meal will be the same for 2 days usually due to leftovers. We are only 2 people, so pretty much everything I make lasts 2 days. Anything left after the 2nd day gets frozen for a night that I just need something quick or when my ds isn't home.
Both meals are healthy and I'm not bored with it yet. If/when I do get bored, I'll change it up somehow. I'm happy to keep my variety for the evening meal. Since I watch my sodium (due to high blood pressure), it also helps me keep my sodium macro in check.0 -
i would neverr eat the same thing everyday0

^^ Agree with and do the same as this guy!0 -
I couldn't do that, way too difficult. My cravings would be out of control if I didn't have variety in my week!
Good Luck!0 -
I'm a busy grad student, so I spend a few hours once a week cooking my entire week's meals. I make one new thing every week and finish off from the week before. Basically, I eat almost the same things every day, but I cycle through 2-3 different meals (i.e. this week, I have Spaghetti, Turkey burgers, and a thai curry)
ETA: I also make the same thing for breakfast every morning, cycling between three things. Pre-made Chia pudding (I make it once a week), a fruit smoothie in my "bullet" blender, or instant oatmeal. Since I wake up 30 mins before leaving for work, it's quick and easy and keeps me full. I also eat an apple on the go.0 -
Mon - Fri breakfast is one of three options and lunch is soup, salad and a roll.0

I understand the motivation to do so, but eating the same foods day after day can make you vulnerable to developing food allergies and even in rare cases autoimmune disorders. I know this because it happened to me. I don't recommend it.0
-
I do. I have a break at the weekend though!
Not sure about its benefits for losing weight but i'd say its good for maintaining.0 -
I pretty much eat the same thing for breakfast/lunch/snacks. I alway eat something different for dinner. It works for me, because it is one less thing I have to think about.0

I eat the same thing every morning like many of the posts I see on here. I do find I tend to stick with the same snack items such as a weight watchers string cheese (I don't like milk so gives me some protein and calcium), Dannon Light & Fit Greek 2x Protein yogurt, avacodo, etc. I often vary my dinner. But, I guess I do kind of eat much of the same thing each day with some variation but not a lot and I don't mind it so much. I do vary my fruit as I like lots of different kinds of fresh fruit. Weekends and eating out are where I run into my problems :grumble:0

I find the opposite - if I stick to the same meals I don't have to think about what I'm eating and cravings don't bother me.
I do get fed up of eating the same things eventually, but I can go for weeks on just a handful of different meals.0 -
Thats how I have been doing it now for about 2 months or more. During the work week, M-F, I have oats with raisins, sugar free maple syrup, flaxmeal and milk for breakfast. Lunch is almost always a sandwich with plenty of home grown lettuce and carrots on the side. Snacks and Dinner is where I add the variety and then of course there is the weekend.0
-
Breakfast I tend to cycle through a few different things like frozen waffles with peanut butter, oatmeal with nuts/dried fruit, bagel thins, etc. If I get bored, I find something new until the previous options sound good again. Lunch and dinner vary pretty much every day. If I have to eat the same thing every day, I will go crazy and my cravings will get out of control. I often eat leftovers from dinner, so I already know the calorie count because I figured it out the night before :bigsmile:0

I eat a lot of the same things for a week. Sundays are usually my cooking day, and I'll either make something in the crockpot & pack it all up so it's easy to grab or make a bunch of chicken & veggies for the week. This way at least every week whatever I make in the crockpot is different and I can mix up the veggies that I make on a weekly basis. I usually grab different fruits though to switch it up.
It really helps me because I can grab it and go during the week and know exactly what it is that I'm eating.0 -
I am seeing a dietician - luckily at a reduced fee through my company. She suggested starting out eating the same thing until I learn how to balance my intake - this isn't just about calories its about the food balance. She also said within three weeks to change it up so that I don't get bored and fall into old unhealthy habits!
Sample wise, currently I either have a Special K ham egg cheese breakfast sandwich or one with egg, sausage and cheese. She gave me options such as a yogurt and piece of fruit or fresh scrambled egg or hard boiled egg, a piece of fruit and slice of toast. Easy ways to switch it up and not get sick of eating the same. Same for lunch, sample meals such as a sandwich with carrot sticks or a bowl of soup (12 oz) a piece of bread and fruit, 1 slice of veggie pizza & side salad. If you can plan ahead it is much easier to know what you are going to need/have for options. My issue is getting out of the house easily with a 6 year old so poppin the sandwich in the micro for 1.30 and leaving with it is easy - then I have fruit when I get to work. Keep fruits, nuts and healthier items available for quick grab and go. Yogurt, cheese sticks, apples, carrots, celery, banana, cherries, peaches, etc...
Dinner is the worst meal for me by the time I get home I don't want to cook and now I have to cook so I can manage my eating I give it about 4 weeks and it will all be part of my life, healthy habits making me a more fit and happier person.
Make a meal plan that you can switch up day to day and plan for with weekly shopping
Good luck, let us know how it turns out...add me as a friend and I'll share some other information from the dietician! :happy:0 -
How did we make it to page twop without someone saying orthorexic?
Booooooooooooo
Orthorexic...
Perhaps think of a few different meals and cycle them. I prefer a lot of variety, but, if you try and figure out the "healthiest" meal possible, and always eat the same meals, you WILL have deficiencies UNLESS you do a fair amount of research and make sure you're getting a proper balance of micro nutrients in said diet..
In other words, if said diet was deficient in iron and potassium, and you ate it every day, its not healthy, no matter how "clean" you think it is. This is just an example.

I'm a habitual eater. It works for me.0
