Hi,
I'm in my 40s and I don't have 40 lbs to lose, well according to me I don't. If you looked at one of those height weight charts I should be aiming for a 40 lb weight lose but it would look awful on me.
However beyond that, my body clings on to fat as if the world will come to an end if I got any thinner. So whilst I may not have 40 lbs to lose I do have around 25 to 30 and it is going to be very tricky.
So any support and encouragement that I can offer or receive in turn would be great.0 -

I have at least 40 to lose. I have not really set a final goal yet. 40 lbs would put me around 150. when I get there I will decide how I feel and look, then I will decide if I want to go lower. I am not ready to set goals that are too far away as it make me freak out a little. Please ad me.0

I'm over 40 and still have some 35 lbs to lose. I'm not right on track at the moment, too many things going on in my life to find extra energy for this, but I hope that I'll have a great restart in autumn and then be able to get down to my goal weight and size :-)0

Feel free to add me if you wish, over 40 and 40+ pounds to lose0

I am over 40 and need to lose the weight. According to the chart at least 30 lbs but I would look too thin at that weight, therefore I just want to lose enough to get into size 8 clothing. I have lost weight on low carbs, still working on losing the weight. Need friends to help with their food dairy tips and how to tone my body up. I don'y have a clue where to start on toning up other than walking.
Thanks, please feel free to add me as a friend and I will be glad to help you as well.0 -
I'll turn 43 this year. I've been an active Fitbit user for a few years ... addicted to the data *Ü* I originally lost weight back in 2006 (quick and easy that time) but it's snuck back on over the years. Activity alone isn't enough ... I know it's the eating. So I joined MFP a few weeks ago and have already seen some success. Down 10, but do have 35 more to go.

Hi. I'm over 40 for sure and want to lose at least 40 lbs. It's a big challenge for me! My hardest time of the day is evenings. Any ideas on how to curb the appetite after 6pm?0

Hey ladies!! I am almost 40 (well actually I just turned 39 in May), but I really need help. I am aiming to lose 30, but every BMI calculator says I need to lose over 50. I think I would look sickly with that much of a weight loss, so I set my goal to stop at 150. I am not brave enough to post a picture of my awful body now, but as I get toned I may try. All of you ladies feel free to add me, I could really use the encouragement and motivation.0

Hi! I'm 44 and started (re-started?) my journey in January. I have lost 39 lbs, as of this morning and 40 was my goal (although I'm happy with the results and may keep going)
I'm a single Mom with a 9yo son, so I'm on homework supervision and/or taxi duty most nights and weekends. I also work outside the home full time and I travel for my job at least twice a month - so I'm eating in restaurants on the road.
I started running 10 weeks ago and on Sunday completed my 3rd 5k race. In 2 weeks, I will run in my first 10k race.
The key for me has been tracking every single bite I put in my mouth, even on the days I go to parties and know I will go over. It has kept me accountable and helps me to realise the consequences of my choices. And I get up early every morning now to workout - sometimes it is a heavier workout, lifting weights plus cardio and sometimes light cardio. I find by getting it done in the mornings, I don't have to worry about what the rest of the day brings.
In January I was sedentary and hated exercise - but now I love it!0 -

I would suggest saving some of your calories to have a snack at night if that is a hard time for you.
Over 40 and over 40 here too. Learning so much more about calories and food on MFP than I ever knew! It's been awesome.0 -
I'm new to the message boards here. I dieted a few years ago and lost nearly 80 lbs. But then I "fell off the wagon" and have gained a bunch back. So I'm back to using MFP. Just found the message boards. I'm 42 and have 60 lbs to lose. Would love to have some friends and support from others on MFP.0

I'm 10 years over 40 and have about 40 pounds to lose too....Feel free to add me...I've only been on here for about a month, but I've lost 7 lbs. so far.....I would like to have some friends on MFP with similar goals...0

I am 40 and still have 40 pounds (+10) to go.... add me!0

I go for a brisk walk or bike ride in the evenings...It keeps me away from the kitchen and when I come back I'm super thirsty so I down a glass or two of water which fills me right up! Since I've started eating much healthier I don't find I'm getting those evening cravings anyway, but if I do it's usually when I'm parked in front of the tv....Old habits die hard!0
