Cardio in a walking boot?

Can anyone give me any ideas of cardio exercises I can do while I'm in a walking boot for a high ankle sprain? I'm in the boot for two weeks and then I'm supposed to go easy for another two to four weeks after I get the boot off.

I'm still going to the gym 5 days a week and working upper body and core, but I'm trying to think of any cardio I can do to help increase my burn. I'm losing a good 300-400 calorie burn during my workout because I'm sidelined on the cardio...

I DO have access to a pool in my neighborhood and will swim as often as possible, but it's been raining A LOT around here this spring/summer so most days that's not possible and even on the one's that it is there are a lot of kids up there so swimming laps may be difficult...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! :flowerforyou:

I was in a boot for 12 weeks for a stress fracture. I did the stationary bike at the gym. It's awkward at first but was able to do it. I had to keep my cardio up as I'm a runner and didn't want to have to struggle once my boot came off.

    See if it works :flowerforyou:

Hi There! Sorry about your injury. I'm in a walking boot, too, non weight bearing with crutches. A speedbag if you have or can get one, is a great cardio workout. YouTube has some pretty good workout videos for people with lower body injuries.

I made a 28 minute playlist on Youtube with seated Zumba routines when I sprained my ankle in April:

It's called "Chair Zumba workout" if that link doesn't work.

There are a lot of them on youtube; those were just my favorites. If you search for Zumba Gold, a bunch of them are seated. It's not a killer burn, but if you get into it, you can get your heart pumping.
