    These brownies:

As the recipe is, it is a little higher in calories, but I used PB2 instead of peanut butter (could cut it out all together) and I cut the sugar to 3/4 cup (could use sugar substitute). They were absolutely amazing. I felt totally guilty for eating them, but they weren't bad calorie-wise.

Search the internet for Almond Flour and Coconut Flour recipes. If you like the results, buy your flour in bulk to cut your costs. Almond Flour Bread is amazing by itself, but top it with ricotta cheese, honey drizzle and lemon zest or peanut butter and fruit and it's amazing. Low carb, low sugar, gluten free.

I went through this last year! There are some amazing blogs out there that makes things a lot healthier. A few are:
    www.eatingbirdfood.com
    www.chocolatecoveredkatie.com
    http://muffin-topless.com/
    http://www.fitfoodieshealthylife.com/
    http://carrotsncake.com/
    http://clarkpharm.blogspot.com/
    http://www.littlebshealthyhabits.com/

I was obsessed for a while reading a lot of these. BUT I learned a lot about how to make delicious things healthier, and ideas for how to cook healthier things - who knew I loved brussels sprouts?

I'm also having the same problem here! Thanks for the awesome website list :D
And Pinterest helped me a lot, especially the Health & Fitness category. I found many fantastic healthy dessert recipes there.

I love baking too. My daughter is allergic to eggs and all nuts and is sensitive to dairy so that has made baking even more fun/challenging. I actually bake alot of vegan goodies now since they are already tried and true recipes that contain no egg. If I'm not using a vegan recipe, I just replace the eggs with ground flax seed. 1TBS mixed with 3 TBS water. Let it sit until gluey and mix in just like an egg. Flax seeds are great! You can replace oil with applesauce or other mashed fruit. I learned alot of tricks reading about vegan recipes and substitutions. I add whole wheat flour in with the all purpose sometimes. But a dessert is a dessert! It's supposed to be a treat. If I want cheesecake or a big layer cake I bake it to take over to a family dinner or party where it will get eaten. I have no self control. A whole cake left in my house will get eaten, by me...lol

Go gluten-free and start exploring non-American desserts. I just made some Besan Laddu last night, which is basically an Indian no-bake cookie made with chick pea flour. Yummy, low calorie, extremely low sodium, and chock full of nutrients.

You could also explore other kinds of cooking. That's what I've done. I found when I make things from scratch using choice ingredients, I cut out a lot of the sugar, bad fats, and calories. Made an Irish lamb stew tonight that was less than 400 calories for a 2.5 cup serving, with about 450 mgs of sodium. It can be done. Explore your culinary options!

    Cocaine?

If you think about it they are both very similar. You start out with a white powder and end up feeling like **** because you consumed the whole thing.

Horizon broadening time. Cooking is my hobby. I love it. No less so now since I can look for ways to make incredibly tasty food that falls within calorie limits. Baking is only a subset of cooking. Get cooking.

For example, did you know shredded raw beets make a fantastic Asian slaw? Neither did I until night before last. I had a raw beet in the fridge so I googled "raw beet recipes" and all sorts of raw beet salads showed up. I dress a shredded beet with ginger, rice vinegar, etc. and it was wonderful. One day I had an eggplant that needed using and a previously baked sweet potato. So, not expecting to find anything I googled "eggplant sweet potato recipes" and discovered eggplant/sweet potato curry. Again, who knew?

Have a ball with cooking and adjusting recipes to keep your calories within limits.
