Challenge is to do 100 sit-ups a say for a 7 day period and you can do them at any time of the day within a 24 hr period...
Oh and register on here how you've done and how you felt. If we get a bunch of us doing it, it will helps up to to it. Well it will make me do it if other people are doing it too :)

So, who's with me.....?

I think sit-ups are a terrible exercise. They don't work your abs well. Most people don't have strong enough ab muscles to prevent the spine from hyperextending during the motion. There's really no reason for the vast majority of people to try to isolate their ab muscles, especially if they're not doing an effective total-body lifting program. There's really no benefit to this at all, either: you won't burn any significant number of calories and you won't be developing any sort of muscle.

This sort of "challenge" is a recipe for two things: zero results and an injured back.

    Thanks for that.

I wasn't doing this as a 'burn the calorie challenge', but as a good core exercise. I have a bad back so the first sign of ache I'd stop, but I've got strong abs. Also re your statement re picking an excercise to accentuate a particular muscle group to enhance them, I know this very well as my abs aren't visible. They just have a cushion on top.

Anyway it's well known that as a rule women have stronger abs than men.
