do your MFP friends cheer bad food choices?

cheer on people who enjoy food and still meet their goals?
blasphemy! Sabotage!
Love it!0 -
I think it's kind of a fine line. Myself, like most people I assume, believe in the "everything in moderation" approach. When someone is like "Just had some pie. BOOM" I'm like "sweet". However, if someone is like "why am I not losing weight?! GRRR!" and I look at their diary and it looks like absolute crap every day, I'm going to suggest that they try to cut down on the foods showing up repeatedly in their diary with empty calories and add more veggies and lean protein, etc.0

"Had room in my calories for ice cream!" = YAY!
"Got depressed and ate a half-gallon of ice cream." = Sorry you had a tough time of it. Tomorrow's a new day.
Could not have said it better!
Exactly how my friends are and how i respond to them. I think picking healthy options not on a random day but on many consecutive days is admirable, i still can't do it LOL so i think trying is effort enough to be cheered on. That being said, my friends on MFP are probably THE BEST out there, I forget how many times they just say the right word at the right time.0 -
Eh, I'm not anyone's baby-sitter. We're all adults, and we make our own decisions. I look at people's diaries generally to see what their intake was and what their macros were, and if it's someone who knows how to eat, I look at their food to see if there are any ideas I can steal. I'm not going to cheer people on for making consistently bad choices, but I'm not going to scold people for eating cookies either. Who the hell am I?0

No food choice is bad.0

Not sure if my diary is made public, but I am guilty of perusing my friend's diaries, if not for some motivation or food/recipe ideas!!!! And I do notice when some friends of friends do cheer them on sometimes when they do make unhealthy choices lol it is what it is.0

My friends cheer delicious food choices, if that's what you mean.0

"A" bad food choice isn't that bad. It's more the quantity or more importantly the frequency of them. It's better to look at food through the Michi's Ladder. The more you have foods on the top two tier, the better off your food intake will be. If someone is doing right 90% of the time, they are probably going to have success anyway. Just my $.02.

Yes, this. I'm impressed if people eat 100% perfectly all the time. I'm also mpressed if people can fit a tiny treat in now and again and still lose weight. Of course, if someone's diary is full of crap day in day out then I might comment on that if asked.0 -
Surprisingly (considering the fact that I'm a chocolate fiend), I like the plain peanut butter ones better. They are like a big peanut butter cookie with peanut butter filling.
Where are these peanut butter and PB+chocolate poptarts you people are discussing? I have never seen those available in our stores here in Dallas. If we had them my husband would be freaking out
I FINALLY found mine at Super Target!!!0 -
I respect my the guys on my FL that call me out on stuff, because they're right. I'm the guy that doesn't mind be called out on bad habits, food choices etc. But not everyone is like me.0

I've noticed a trend here. Posting here so you know you don't have to take this topic seriously if you don't want to.
If they are still in their calorie goals, sure.
Even if they go over every so often, sure.
If they are continuing to make less healthy choices and going over their dialy calories, nope.0 -
YES! I support my friends no matter what...And the same they with me! Not every day will be a perfect day. So they have my support even on pizza and ice cream days.0

I had someone call me out on my lack of vegetables once. I kind of actually appreciated it, because it's something I have to make a conscious decision about. I don't really like veggies, so I have to find ways to eat them that will be halfway enjoyable.0

"Bad" is a relative term........what's the baseline?:drinker:0

I get more excited with the so called "dirty" diaries.
I will be that friend that cheers you on for eating "gabbage" and meeting your goals. My diary often includes a burger usually beef or tky with baked fries. I love Wendy's burgers & fries best.0 -
I'm still not sure what bad food choices are.0
-
Yes.
One time I posted something about asparagus, and one of my friends said I should eat some.
I deleted that **** right away. I ain't got time for friends who promote eating bad food.0 -
To me, the bad choice isn't really about the food. Ice cream isn't a bad choice for me if it fits in my macros and calories. It's a bad choice if it doesn't fit and I'm just eating whatever I want because I refuse to control my behavior. THAT'S a bad choice. And that's MY fault, not the ice cream's fault.0

IIFYM = applause (no such thing as "bad food" unless it's spoiled which I would NOT encourage eating ????)
3000 over calorie goal = start over the next day and try to eliminate the trigger causing the binge...0 -

No such thing as a bad food choice. All food is good. And drink.
But I'm not a cheerleader type, even if they eat special flowers that only grow in a magical grove, handpicked by fairies and washed with a unicorn's tears, I'm not going to think they're doing anything better than the person whose calorie intake for the past weekend has been largely provided in convenient green bottles.0 -
I love pizza!0
-
I'm an enabler, so I cheer them on no matter what they're doing. This includes (but is no limited to) eating a whole large pizza, a gallon of ice cream, two pounds of bacon, one of the huge jars of Nutella, sleeping with random people, using heroin as their pre-workout supplement, watching porn and masturbating at work, etc.
I will not cheer them on if they choose to listen to Nickelback, though. I have f*cking standards...0 -
"Had room in my calories for ice cream!" = YAY!
"Got depressed and ate a half-gallon of ice cream." = Sorry you had a tough time of it. Tomorrow's a new day.
Ditto!0 -

Also quoting this. Absolutely right.
Occasionally I'll make a suggestion for a substitute that I've tried in the past if I think it will help them from pidgeonholing their macronutrients. I tend to pidgeonhole the hell out of my diary and I know I appreciate the suggestions sometimes.0 -
lol Jonny dat asparagus. You would think it was like crack or something.0
-
If they manage to get some treats in and still do well calorie wise than I feel that is worth a cheer. :bigsmile:0
-
No, but I'm pretty sure none of them believe in "bad" food.0
