Exercising Previous Days Calories

Hey everyone,
I have been on MFP for about a year and a half now and am wondering something. If I am trying to lose weight, I am, and I accidentally eat over my goal by say...400 calories...is it safe for me to exercise those off the next day?
For instance, yesterday I ate 1700 calories (my daily calorie intake is 1200), would it be healthy for me to workout today and burn the extra calories and not eat them back?
Thanks

This is largely an opinion thing, but my two cents is weight loss doesn't happen from one day to the next-- it's a long term commitment, so as long as your AVERAGE is in line your goals, you'll see results. Don't focus so heavily on the exact numbers from day to day, instead focus on meeting your goal each day and keeping yourself on the right track on the long term.0
