    Sassy Water

    2 liters water
    1 tsp freshly grated ginger
1 medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced
    1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
    12 small spearmint leaves

I just googled it. It does sound very refreshing (and I am sick to death of plain water.) I'm guessing you mix it and let it sit for a while and then drink up. . .

Thanks Viviakay! I googled it too but I couldn't find anything.. other than a place to purchase a diet book! lol. I'll have to give it a try.. BTW, You're a great inspiration to me! Hope I can do as well as you have!

it is a lemon sliced, a cucumber sliced and fresh mint leaves (12) and let it sit in the water pitcher over night... i keep refilling my water for 2 days, then start again with fresh ingredients on the second evening... i find it really refreshing... and it works.. so there you have the recipe right out of the book!

So wait, wait -- this targets belly fat somehow, or is it just a recipe from the Flat Belly diet book? (because I need ANYTHING to help target my belly.... a kid, a c-section, and two abdominal surgeries have left it flabby and scary looking!)

I'm not sure what it's supposed to "do". It does sound tasty, and both ginger and spearmint are common herbal remedies for "issues" in the gut (bloating, gassiness, etc.) It may also just be a trick to get you to drink more water. . .which would also make you less bloaty.

There is no way to "target fat". But, sometimes a bloat in the belly is digestive issues and not "fat". Sometimes, though. . .it's fat. . .in which case this wouldn't help.

You made a great point! I'd never thought much about it, but one of my stomach surgeries was to repair a perforated ulcer (where an ulcer ate a hole through my stomach wall, the docs had to go in and patch it up). Some of my problem may not be exterior fat as much as internal "issues".

I recently found out that I have a problem digesting wheat and a few other grains. Within three weeks of giving up wheat. . .I lost 3 inches in my waist. Nowadays, when I have a little wheat, I get a small amount of bloat for a few days (sometimes a wheat treat is worth it). So, the gut can really play tricks on you that way.:flowerforyou:

I'm currently conducting a "sassy water" experiment. I've been drinking it for a day (I'm finding it quite refreshing). I'm interested to see if it does . . .well. . .anything. According to what I can google, you're supposed to drink it the first 4 days of the "diet" before you start the eating part. I think it may be some sort of digestive kick start, and lemon is a diuretic. So far, at least it's not as boring as plain water.

Hi! This is a somewhat old topic, but I was searching for current Flat Belly posts and found this one. I got the book from the library - as I do for all the "Latest & Greatest" diets out there! (why spend the money when you can review it for several weeks for free?) I then buy the book on ebay or Amazon if I like it.
Okay so the Sassy water does include ingredients that help digestion, bloating, etc, makes you drink 2 liters of fluid a day and is refreshing. I actually do my own version of it with sliced oranges, limes and lemons, frozen unsweetened berries - yum! I found that the cucumber or the ginger or the mint was making the brew bitter so I decided to go a different route - but getting the water in nonetheless.

The 4 day boot camp is "okay" It's only 1200 calories of easy to digest foods (it's basically a cleansing period) and the water. Oh! and it introduces the MUFAs (good for you fats) to your diet so you get used to eating them.

I lost 3 pounds the first 4 days then 2 the next week. Then came a bad weekend of eating and I gained 3 back (plus it's bloating time if ya know what I mean?) I also got a new digital scale - my old dial one was hard to read - so my number might be off a bit :) No excuses, just stating the facts.

I continue to do the Flat Belly Diet and I love the fact that I get to eat FAT! Being the good for you fats that I've always thought of as indulgent and off-limits makes it feel like a treat. 1600 calories a day seems like a lot but the MUFAs are high in calories and your fat intake will soar (remember these are Mono Unsaturated Fatty Acids - MUFA - and are good for you) The key is to NOT eat the bad fats to add to your totals.

I am semi-vegetarian so the plan works for me. There's not a lot of animal products on it because of the Saturated Fat they contain. I do like and eat meat but only occasionally and I abstain from it for health reasons not any other. I've adopted a sort of Vegan Till Six approach. I eat mostly plant products all day and have a normal dinner (4 oz lean protein, lots of veggies, a little starch)

The Fat Belly Diet is like a lot of diets where the calories consumed are not empty. Eat lots of produce, moderate lean protein, high fiber and drink lots of fluids. The main difference here is that with the rich foods like nuts, avocados, olives and dark chocolate, you feel full and satisfied, not starving and deprived from eating fat free foods. That is pretty much how I plan my day - eating a serving from the above foods in that order at every meal (4 meals a day) Nuts with breakfast, Avocado at lunch, Olives with dinner and Dark Chocolate for dessert. I sometimes flip-flop the olives and avocado depending on what's for dinner that night and I don't always have chocolate (It's high in calories) sometimes I have the chocolate in the morning in a smoothie or hot cocoa and have dried fruit and nuts in yogurt for dessert.
