Fat Blocker ??

I have been doing low carb, but am noticing that I am eating more fat than is recommended. Curious about fat blockers. Any info?

    low carb is usually higher fat as you have to get the calories from somewhere.

    Anything that inhibits fat absorption is likely to lead to "interesting" side effects like anal leakage. Mmmm.

    Low carb requires you to consume more fat and protein, that's the point of a low carb diet..

    Fat blockers do work... and they do exist... however...

    Let us just say... There are a bit bad side effects that will be guaranteed lol

    I only know the ones that are prescription based work, I don't know of the normal over the counter ones tbh..

    Why block something that is really good for you. Fat helps your body absorb nutrients and minerals. Additionally, it improves joint lubrication, provides healthier skin and hair and more. Dietary fat =/= body fat. Fat and proteins on mfp with the default are always minimums.

    If you're eating low carb, you must eat high(er) fat in order to lose weight. You rely on fat for energy.

    Fat blockers do exist, and they will make you sick as hell. Shortly after a fatty meal you will literally poop out the fat. It's disgusting and unhealthy, and super weird because fat is good for you.

    FYI I did Alli for a few months. I did not have any problems with the anal leakage, side effects, etc because in addition to blocking the fat you are supposed to eat a low-fat, low calorie meal. No more than 18-20 grams of fat per meal. So I would say just stick with your calorie target and try to get more protien than fat in your food choices, but having too much fat will not hurt you.

    How much fat do you consume? I consume 80-100 grams daily. Don't be scared of the fat.

    When I BBQ, I put an aluminum tray of water under the meat. It blocks most of the fat from grunging up the bottom of the grill. Works very well.

    How much fat do you eat? MFP sets your fat goal kinda low, IMO.

    No such thing as a fat blocker, but there are OTC drugs like Alli that help to reduce the absorption of it. However it not only reduces bad fat , but good fat as well. And good health requires essential fat.

    the only low carb diet I did emphasized eating sufficient fats and proteins. Please go reread the plan you are on. it should make sense as a whole, or there's no sense in doing it. If you ate no carbs and then blocked your fats what would you be surviving on? only protein? i mean protein is important all but it's not meant to be the ONLY thing in your diet.

    I think this is one of the side effects of Alli. Fat is good for us. I try to only eat it in moderation.

    If you're doing low carb, you NEED fat. You MUST have fat. Else you end up with ketoacidosis which is NOT the good kind of keto. (and if you're eating massive amounts of protein - rabbit starvation, google it.)

    Why would you want to block fat on a low-carb diet? I won't go near alcohol on 40% protein because I'm worried about over-taxing my kidneys. Fat slows protein absorption, so before I'd even consider low-carb + low-fat (which those pills would in effect be doing) I'd make an appointment to check my kidney function so I could assess my risks for protein toxicity first.

    If you cut back on carbs, protein and fat will go up. Hit your protein target, whatever it is, and get the rest of your calories from fats. Any reason you are doing low-carb?

  • Doing low carb bc it's just easier for me. Daughter is a type 1 Diabetic, so we do low carb for her anyway. Just trying to be more aware of calories and stay away from sugar/carbs.

    The fat blocker I use is called exercise.
