Any advice for getting used to exercise again?

Hey everyone.
I've been gone for over a year. Before I left I was exercising at home and the gym for a good four hours a day. While I've been gone I haven't exercised at all. Now I'm trying to get back into shape and it's a lot more difficult than I remember...
Here are the circumstances:
1. We moved from a place where it snows 8 months out of the year, to a place that varies between 80* and 120* outside. I used to go walking all the time, but now it's difficult. I feel like passing out every time the sun hits me.
2. There is no gym here, so I'm using all my at home videos like Tae bo- Pilates- and Yoga. Which is fine, except that I don't remember them being nearly this difficult to do. I've had to cut out parts of the exercises in order to finish them.
3. I'm a writer, and much of my job requires me to sit at my desk for hours on end. Which, you probably know, is horrible for you- and recently I've been having chest pains because of it. (We're working on getting a bike desk to solve this problem but it's not exactly the fastest process in the world.)
Any advice in what might help would be appreciated.
Oh- Please, and thank you. ^.^

just keep moving - dont give up - soon you will build up your endurance again!
Where do you live now? I grew up in San Diego California and now live in Chicago, Illinois - I have been here 16 years and will never get used to the winters - i hate not being able to go out for walks in the winter - I am however fortunate to have a gym here.
No matter how long I live here I will never embrace the winter. I am a Cali girl at heart.
Good luck to you1 -
My best suggestion would be to easy back into it. Start of by setting small goals, say 15 mins 3 x a week, for example and increase each week.1

Sorry to say it is almost like starting over. You will not be able to start with 4 hour workout session but that's okay you don't need that to lose weight. If I were you I would really clean up my diet and start adding in exercise slowly. So no matter what exercise you are doing it is good because your diet is already on point.1

Id get a treadmill....that's how I got moving again. Then when u are into a good routine, u can add weights. But, treadmill is a good start.1

I can totally relate. It was a slow start for me. I started walking (Walk at Home DVD) once a week in April. Then walking or Zumba or step aerobics once a week. Then walking AND Zumba totalling 3 times a week. Until I would mix and match with Turbo Jam and Jari Love. Now i'm hooked on Cathe Friedrich. Today is supposed to be my rest day but I had a 5 mile walk anyway..... So it took 3 months at least for me to get back...1

I used a C25K program to get back into the swing of things again. It was really frustrating how poorly I did at first (I had been way too lazy for far too long), but it gave me a solid plan to get back into good cardio shape, and from there I was able to get back into weight lifting (and most recently, Insanity).1
