Merrell Running Shoes

Anyone have any reviews for Merrell running shoes? I normally use Brooks and am apprehensive of trying new ones because I tend to get shin splints so easily.

My Merrell Road Gloves just arrived in the mail and I have yet to try them. They are my first pair of true zero-drop minimalist running shoes, but I am very excited to get acquainted with them.

I have had great success with avoiding shin splints and strengthening my flat feet and my calves by working out barefoot at home, so I think these will be a good next step for me.

I can't comment on shin splints because I haven't had them since I was a kid (15+ years ago), but I've been using some Pace Gloves for 2-ish months now and I love them! They were my first minimalist shoe, so I was a bit nervous about adjusting to them, but I took it slow and have had no problems aside from some very slight discomfort in my achilles tendons when I first started. I was afraid running on gravel would be painful but I don't feel rocks more than in my old shoes (which had a ton of cushioning, and I still felt rocks sometimes). I run on a beach most of the time, though. They do get wet easily, but they also dry easily, which is awesome.

In conclusion, I love mine and bought another pair as backup. :)

I jsut busted out a pair of road gloves this weekend. Loved em! I've been adjusted to the 0 heel drop shoes for quite some time now, this was just the 1st pair of Merrels I went with. Very comfy

Just my two cents, as someone who used to get shin splints almost INSTANTLY with most running shoes (ie. Mizuno, Adidas, Brooks, Puma) to the point where I almost gave up running completely. I have Merrell Pace Glove and Inov-8 (I have several models), I actually much prefer Inov-8, they are ugly but seem lighter and more flexible, with better road grip, and no shin splints (I think it's been almost 2 yrs now)!

To be fair, I can't comment on whether the Merrells will help with shin splints, since I bought the Inov-8s at about the same time, I suppose I didn't give the Merrells much of a chance (I think I ran in them twice). I kinda wish I hadn't bought the Merrells now, as they are collecting dust :-/ Anyway, Inov-8 might be worth looking into. I could only find Inov-8 on zappos (thankfully, free shipping and returns, so I could get the size right!) but I noticed more stores are starting to carry them.
