200+ calories left but unsure what to eat

My daily goal is 1200 calories and sometimes I burn a lot of calories while exercising but I don't know what to eat back the calories with... And a lot of the time I just end up snacking on some junk food which probably isn't the best for me haha. I've read a few posts and a lot of people say it isn't good to eat less than 1200 calories a day so what are some healthy snacks I can have?

you can eat what you want really, but you could have a couple or three large carrots, kiwifruit are 50ish cals and are the most nutritionally dense fruit on the planet, with more vitamin c than oranges.

2 eggs and a piece of toast.

anything you want really. if you cant some help with your diet, open your food diary and post your height and weight here :)
  • Thanks, that's really helpful :) just another question though, should I be concerned that my sugar intake is always over what mfp says I should have? I don't usually eat sweets so I think it mainly comes from the fruit. It hasn't been affecting my weight loss so far but I was just wondering if it might in the future

No you should not be concerned about your Suger intake at all. Unless you are diebetic or have some other medical condition that has been diagnosed medicilly.
In terms of what to eat, eat whatever. Go get an ice cream cone. One Reeses should do it just fine.

naa don't worry about it, especially when its from eating fruit. its unlikely your sugar intake would have an effect on weight loss. :)

Perfect if you have already hit other macro's.

    OR

Jelly lite - calorie dense I spose, 0 sugar fats and carbs.. 500ML = roughly 80CAL depending on flavour.
  • Peanut or Almond butter (2 tbsp) will also help :) (contains about 190 cals for 2 tbsp) and its full of nutrition

As long as your eating your calories before working out that's fine. I never eat back exercise calories.

Don't just think in calories. Go to the bottom of the page where the totals for the day are listed to see how you are doing on the other things that you are tracking. For example, I track cholesterol and calcium in addition to the fiber, fat, protein and calories. I look to see if I'm short in any of these categories and then choose a food that will bring that category up to where it should be.

I also plan my whole day in the morning. I enter what I have eaten for breakfast, then put in what I plan to have for dinner and that tells me what I should eat for lunch to get all of those categories where they should be by the end of the day. I generally have 300-350 calories at both breakfast and lunch and 500-600 calories for dinner.
