Ok, for my birthday my hubby got me a HRM that also shows how many calories burned. I love it and am using it for my exercises as well as when I am doing some hard cleaning at the house. But my question is could you use it to just simply track all calories burned all day instead of separating your exercise calories burned?
Thank you!!!

No. And it is not accurate for the calories burned during housework.
HRM do not measure calories burned. Heart rate is not directly related to calories burned. They base calorie estimate are on a known relationship between VO2 max and HR during steady state cardio at moderate intensity.
There is no correlation during lower intensity activities.

• The linear HR vs. VO2 relationship applies to moderate-intensity activity but is nearly a flat slope during low-intensity activity, resulting in a low correlation between HR and EE (Energy Expenditure) during sedentary and low-intensity activities.

TL;DR - no, it is not accurate for estimating calories all day. Only in specific situations.0 -
