My first thought was "only Smarties have the answer", then I realised they are probably not sold in the US. Original M&M's it must be.

    No, these are Smarties:

We call those Rockets in Canada!

Smarties for the win. Every time I visit the states I have to take them with me.

There's coconut ones! I need those! I'll still go with PEANUT M&M's as my fave.

Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels.

Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round.

I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.

Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment.

When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3x5 card reading, "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes."

This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this "grant money." I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion.

    There can be only one.

Aside from the fact that I have read this exact post before..... I love you! LOL

My procedure to eat a Peanut M&M

    - insert in mouth
    - keep there long enough to heat / soften candy shell
    - squish with tongue
    - work candy bits off, chew and swallow them
    - allow rest of chocolate to melt on tongue & swallow
    - work the skin from the peanut off with teeth and swallow
    - find the seam between the two halve, apply pressure until it splits open
    - snap off the little nubbly bit on the end and swallow
    - chew remaining peanut pieces individually and swallow

If you are consuming with a partner and they hand you one before you are done the last one, store the peanuts in your cheek so you can keep up.
  • Wow, it's hard to decide which is my favorite. I like a variety of M&Ms. Maybe M&M Mars need to produce a variety bag in which you have no idea which flavor you get. Just grab a handful and enjoy whatever you get.

Wait... You can buy small bags of m&m's ?

Any 7-11 or convenience store you visit. At 10 M's per day, you might get a week out of the bag. And if you're too weak and give in, it isn't more than ~230 calories for the bag so the devastation isn't bad. But don't give in to temptation. It's a reward for how well you do.

I have M&M's like twice a year, usually when I'm on my lady time. It's always peanut.

What the hell with all those other ones, though. They're not really M&M's anymore, why not just call them something else?

Ahhrgh! I love M&Ms. I skimmed through all five pages of this topic to savour them virtually. I diverted myself by calculating the calories in 12 pieces of each kind of M&M (who eats less than 12 M&Ms at a time?). I won't be a spoiler by posting. I did learn that at least up to 2010 coconut M&Ms did not contain coconut.
