Hi all,

We are planning a trip to Las Vegas, among other places, just wondering if anyone has some recommendations as to where to stay that isn't too expensive, but isn't a complete bomb either???

Thanks :-)

My favorite is the Venetian and least favorite the MGM. The Venetian has the best games and they are nice to you.

The only place I've ever stayed in Vegas is the Bellagio. Highly recommended but not cheap.

Go to Fremont Street if you actually want to win money, though. 4 Queens is great.

yeah you'll have to get off the strip to find cheaper but there are places at walking distance off the strip.

stay on the strip in a central location. staying off the strip is a horrible idea. this is assuming you want to check out the different casinos.

Bellagio is one of my favorites.
  • I've stayed at New York New York and Treasure Island. I preferred New York New York Hotel.

I thought Treasure Island was nice, it was my first and only time to Vegas(so far). My sister is a fan of Luxor.

I've stayed at Paris (pricey) and Harrahs ( cheaper). Harrahs isn't fancy but its clean and in a good location.

Not true. many off strip hotels have shuttle service that will take you to the casinos all night long.

At Harrah's they only hire over 60 waitresses though, not that that is an issue.

We stayed off strip this time and I loved it! We got a one bedroom suite for 99 a night ( we got this on deal Hilton had going on) . And it wasn't a dump either. It is the Hilton Grand vacations, the one by the old Hilton, now LVH I believe. You can drive, hitch a ride with a cab, the bus or the train or walk. It wasn't bad at all. And there was no casino so you got away from the smoke which was awesome!!!

The only place I've stayed at is the Flamingo. It's definitely not the top of the line but for the location, price, and nice pool, I loved it! It was awesome to be right there in the middle with everything around....and we got a great deal staying there. We got just a 'normal' room...which the first one they gave us was pretty bad...we complained and got the same but a renovated version and it was awesome...not like bells and whistles awesome, but the view was great, it was cute and clean.

have you ever ridden one of those shuttles? not very convienent. but if you have time to waste then use them.

staying off the strip is like staying a few blocks off of the beach...its better than not being on vacation but its defeinitely not ideal.

If money is an issue than stay at the Flamingo. The location cant be better and you save money staying there.
    The pool is great too.

If money is a bit looser, than my wife swears by Wynn and Encore, and I favor Caesars.

If you are ok not staying on the strip, Green Valley hotel and casino is a nice place. I have never stayed there but I live down the street from there. Southpointe is another good place. These are nice but not real expensive and not as elaborate as most on the strip. If you want to win don't play on the strip go to the locals places, wildfire, dotty,s, are a couple of those.

I loved the Mirage. Recently stayed at the Paris this past May & I did not care for the ambiance. Next time the hubby & I will stay at the Wynn it is gorgeous but, pricey.

The Mandalay Bay is nice (South end of the Strip).

i just want to add that the stratosphere is not a good place to stay, it is way off the strip and in a crappy neighborhood. it is cool to go up to the top though.

The Imperial is smack dab in the middle of it all and honestly, extremely reasonable. Have fun!

I stayed at the Cosmopolitan just this New Years past... The Hotel is FABULOUS! Central location and is absolutely beautiful! Also the bars and casino are so much fun! We got a deal where we had breakfast included and the food is AMAZING! I think it was worth every penny... we looked at the other hotels and compared to others it was awesome.

Bally's has a GREAT LOCATION (next to Paris and across from Bellagio) and usually has some decent deals.

Both the Flamingo and the Tropicana have recently been renovated and are both mid tier hotels. The Flamingo is pretty much in the center of the strip while the Trop is down on the South end. Mid tier hotels on the strip include the Trop, Flamingo, Luxor, Treasure Island and Monte Carlo. I'd skip the lower echelon such as Harrahs, The Quad (Old Imperial Palace), Hooters, Circus Circus and the Stratosphere. IF you want to go old school The Plaza down town just renovated with all the new furniture from the Fountain Bleu project. and the Golden Nugget isn't bad.

We stayed at the Tropicana for 8 nights about 2 months ago. Their top of the line suites are amazing, PITY we had to get moved THREE times before they upgraded us to a suite and gave us a $250 food and bev credit.

We got there the first night, check in is at 3pm, our room was ready at 7pm. Right.

Go to room, kick of shoes and the carpet is wet. Also, the room smells funky. Basically, someone had puked on the carpet and it had been "cleaned" but was wet and smelly. So, new room.

2 mornings later we wake to hammering and drilling at 8am. Oh, they forgot to mention the renovations and repairs on the floor below us. So ANOTHER new room, in the other tower.

The morning after our wedding, we awake at 7:30am to hammeirng and drilling IN THE ROOM DIRECTLY ABOVE US.

We absolutely crack it and get upgrated to a suite and get the credit. THAT was lovely, but overall, the experience was less than impressive.

Haha super productive :-) Go us, July budget here we come :-)
  • We live here now but when we were coming yearly for our anniversary, we loved the Golden Nugget. It's a Strip quality hotel with downtown prices. Let us know if you're staying there and we would love to play some poker with you.
