Protein for a Vegetarian

I've always been active or an athlete and in good health. I am average on all the charts, (BMI, Body fat, etc.) but I've decided it is time to get in some serious shape. I'm looking to drop 7% body fat which will put me in the fit category. I am currently doing the Jillian Michaels body revolution which for those who are not familiar is a combination of strength training and cardio. 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week, 2 days for just cardio and the other 4 for a combination of cardio and strength training. The workouts are going great and I've seen some great results. The problem I face now is eating better to increase the results I am seeing. I have been a vegetarian for 12 years (and don't plan on incorporating meat or fish into my diet) and I eat healthy for the most part, but not great. I really need to add more protein into my diet to help out my muscles, and decrease the amount of carbs I eat (lots of pastas and such). Any one have any good recipes for low carb- high protein vegetarian recipes that are cheap, easy to stock up on, and not too time consuming?

Tofu, tempeh, cheese, falafel, and nuts are your friends. Protein shakes could be a good alternative too.

peanut butter, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese,tofu,beans,bananas....a good veggetarian chili might be a good one. Or just adding a vegetarian protein shake if needed might bring it up quite a bit. I am not a vegetarian but I have looked at protein counts in alot of stuff just for snack foods and such.

I don't know if you are lacto ovo, but I get a lot of protein from Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, and cheese. Beans and lentils are a staple for me. I prefer tempeh to tofu, but they are both good protein sources. Protein powders can be incorporated into smoothies, muffins, bars, pancakes, and a lot of other recipes. Good luck!
