New and need motivation!

I have been married for a year and a half and ever since receiving our wedding photos, I had tried ever fad diet and detox pill. I still can not look at my wedding album without feeling awful about myself. I am hoping this will finally work out for me. I had totally been in denial. I weigh 185 and I am only 5'4. I always say to myself that I really want this, but for some reason when the time comes to make a food choice or I have time to work out I don't. I real need some motivation to get my feet off the ground.

I was about the same weight when I got married 4 years ago. Now I weigh about 210. Start working on it before you end up like me, having to lose even more!
However, you look beautiful in your wedding dress! Don't hate your pictures. Look for the beauty in them. Look for the happiness in your eyes and in your smile.0 -
I'm in the same postition with the when i have time to work out, I don't part.
I really never eat as much as i should, they say to eat like 6xs a day to keep your metabolism going..
Need i say, I HAVE no motivation, but I want it more than anything!0 -
I feel the same. I want to lose weight and get healthier, but can't seem to motivate myself.

Here's a few things to think about:
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
The desire to change MUST be greater than the desire to stay the same.
That motivates me. You have got to want it and own it. Try your best, it will pay off with more than just seeing the scale move in the right direction. Trust me.0 -
just take it slow and steady take one step at a time set up small achievable goals until you get to that big goal. My wedding photos I was 260 but I still love them cuz I am happy and that was the day I married my best friend and solemate. he carries a picture of me in his wallet and every time I ask him how he thinks I am doing he pulls it out and says what do you think. once you get yourself on a system try hard to stick to it. I don't deny myself anything so that helps. The key to the food is moderation. eat the healthy stuff like it is going out of style and treat yourself once in awhile so you don't crave and binge. as far as working out... just move do anything to keep busy and stay moving if you can find a gym or workout at home . me I prefer at home..fit excersise into your new lifestyle. trust me you will start to actually enjoy it and want to work out. proud of you for taking the first step and signing up to MFP you can add me if you like we are all in this together and we need all the encouragement we can get. Take it one day at time. When I first started I felt the same way . Two months into changing my lifestyle and working out , I feel so much better . MFP is a great way to stay motivated . Good luck on your journey and feel free to add me :-)0

Many have said this and I agree, take it slow. A lot of people give up because they change everything and quit their favorite foods cold turkey. You do not have to change everything right away. Just make small goals for yourself every week.
Some examples:
Week 1: Eat breakfast every morning. Do 10 minute workout
Week 2: Eat a small salad before lunch. Do 15 minute workout
Week 3: Have a fruit or veggie as snacks. Walk for 25 minutes
and so on. Little goals will make a big difference. Remind yourself that you are beautiful and you are worth making yourself healthy and happy.

Yeah, fad diets just don't work long term - totally agree with those who are saying take it slow, don't try and eat the elephant all in one bite (so to speak LOL) and don't ban anything - moderation is the key. I know that the minute I think that I can never have something ever again, then that's all I crave! Better to eat a row of that chocolate bar once a week, then to keep telling yourself you can never eat chocolate again, and end up eating the whole bar haha
And if you do fail - don't give up completely or decide you might as well do the thing properly and really blow out. Just stop at that one mistake, don't beat yourself up over it, and move on. And get an exercise buddy!!

Hi! I'm in a similar boat to you. I'm 5'2" and weigh 186 lbs. I want to be healthy and lose weight, but it seems like when I have to make the choice between taking time to work out or spending time with my family, spending time with my family always wins out.
