I live in a college town where the restaurants that people "drunk eat" at stay open all night. And they are all horrible for you. But there is one place called R U Hungry? And they make "fat" sandwiches which will have anything and everything on them. cheesesteak, mozarella sticks, french fries, etc. etc. I only ever ate it once and didn't like the sandwich I ordered... thank God.0

Very true. They'd be REALLY dangerous if they weren't ridiculously salty/ lukewarm/ wilted/ soggy much of the time.0 -

You guys are ruining my fantasy world of living in an IHop! Haha. Me and my best friends used to actually say we were going to go on an "American Food Tour" and just drive thru America and go to restaurants we don't have here...Sonic, IHop, Jack in the Box, Popeyes, Hardees, White Castle, TGI-Fridays, Checkers..etc..I forgot all the others. Although I don't think I'd be up for it anymore. Haha.
You guys have way more fast food places than us. I used to be jealous, but now I'm grateful...I don't need anymore temptation.0 -

Lol, there's some GREAT American food, but most if it won't be found at chain restaurants. Some of the most amazing is covered in Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". IF you were ever to embark on an ill-advised American Culinary Tour, THAT should be your road guide, not White Castle's "store locator".0 -
Pa here. This entire state lives on fatty meats and fried anything. The most daring the run away from is, fried pie. The Amish sell it at all the country markets and flee markets. Then we have funnel cakes topped with any fruit pie filling and mounds of whip cream. Pennsylvania is an artery buster for sure.0

Haha, I know the places I mentioned are all pretty gross...but to us it's exciting just because we don't have them and you do, haha. Plus we see the commercials all the time...and well, commercials make everything look good.0 -
LOL! The area I live in really isn't KNOWN for any particular food? I DO love Texas Roadhouse though! I am SURE they do not give out any nutritional info on purpose! :laugh: As far as fast food....no Sonic, Checkers, Hardees, Jack in the Box, White Castle here...we mainly have McDonalds, Arbys, Burger King, Wendys, Taco Bell. We do have TGIFridays though.0

Originally from Toronto and now in PA.. here I have found funnel cakes and cheesesteaks.. especially my fav - a chicken cheesesteak with bacon and provolone.... mmmmmm0

Here in Springfield Illinois, it might be the 'Horse shoe" two hamburger patties over texas toast covered with fries and smothered with one or two different cheese sauces!!!0

I am from Sheffield, England and our thing is Yorkshire puddings, no idea if these are known else where with a different name :S
Basically they are made from pancake mix, but are savoury, filled with things like sausages. Not good for you, but goooood.0 -
Cincinnati, Ohio - we have Skyline & Gold Star (Chili, spaghetti, cheese or coneys (buns, hotdogs, chili, cheese)) yummy

Well this isn't really from my city I live in but it's pretty close. In seattle there's ****'s hamburgers which I absolutely a-DORE! They are SOOO fatty and greasy and delicious. Their fries are heavenly, and their tartar sauce is to die for. can you tell I love that place?
Then there's beth's cafe, which was on Man Vs. Food... home of the 12 egg omelet with chili, cheese, etc. I've never had it but I heard it was great. LOL0 -
Where I am at in Maryland they have the local favorite is stuffed ham. Uhhh.. yuck. It is a corned ham stuffed with kale and cabbage, spinach and it is god awfull hot and spicy... and not in a good way. It took 2 days to get the taste out of my mouth. The other favorite is the Crab cakes. Not a big crab fan, but they are chunks of crab meat, bread chunks, celery, spices, egg and mayo. Then it is made into a thick patty and fried in butter until golden brown. Then topped with a cream sauce that has sour cream, mayo, yogurt, spices and EVO.0

Where I grew up, there was a place called Captain Harvey's, and they had the best cheese steak subs. When you went in the place (it's a carryout only sub shop), you would see a mountain of sandwich steaks cooking on the grill, as well as a mountain of fried onions. When you ordered a steak or cheese steak sub, they had one person grab a sub roll (the normal sub rolls, not those cheap 12 inch things they try to pass off as a sub roll), and this person would cut the roll and pass it on to the next person. The second person would put whatever you wanted on the sub (mayo, cheese, peppers, relish, etc.) then the next person would add the steak and fried onions, and they piled it on. They'd put on so much steak and onions that the sub had to weight at least 5 pounds. The last person wrapped it up and handed it to you. It was so juicy that you couldn't eat it without getting the juices all over you. We'd keep a roll of paper towels in the car just to use with the sub.0
