  • I *think* it's 300 more than your "normal" IDK tho, I always just ate when I was hungry/took cues from my body.

Amazed your doctor hasn't mentioned the proper amount to eat at any time in the 5.5 months you've been pregnant. I'd consider switching doctors, since that's probably kind of important information. Not really something that you should be relying on random internet strangers for

Definity a question for your doctor. This is a good guideline to start off with. At 5.5 months, I would think you should be eating around 300 calories over maintenance.

Ditto on the doctor recommendation. Call the office today & find out. Also, be aware tha 300 calories (if that's the "extra" you get) add up quickly if you aren't eating quality foods. That's a slice of cake or pie. . .a couple homemade cookies. Boom. There goes that little extra!

You would switch Dr's because they haven't told you how to eat?

This. Around the 2nd appointment, my doctor's office has a nurse discuss nutrition, quality foods, eating small meals frequently to combat nausea, etc.

Ask your Doctor for sure, but eat when you are hungry. Gaining is part of pregnancy unforunentally! Just eat a healthy diet fully of fruit, veg and protein and you'll be good. I would only worry about how many calories to eat unless you are gaining TOO much!

Best to consult your doctor. I have NEVER had a doctor tell me how many calories to eat (this my 6th pregnancy) I think if they see healthy weight and gain, they figure you are doing it right. I never really counted calories in pregnancy..ate when I was hungry and tried to keep it "good foods". Good luck on your pregnancy!
  • I am 25 weeks and I try to eat around 2,100-2,300 calories daily. I keep my net at 2,100 and eat extra when I work out or if I am just plain hungry. At first I had a hard time eating enough because I was so sick...so when I did eat I would eat high calorie things to get enough. After morning sickness went away I kept eating like that with the hunger of a bear haha. Bad news!!! I have gained too much weight now, so I just stick to the normal amount I should be getting plus a little extra. I normally need around 1,800-2,000 with exercise..so 2,100 works out good for me. My weight gain is finally steady and on track!
