I fake it till I make it. For some reason going through the motions actually makes in real after awhile. I often have to pretend I'm someone else when I speak in public.

I narrowed it down for me.

I care about consequences, fear of rejection.

I recommend this book: The Power of Charm by Brian Tracy.

It is a short book, and a little dorky, but it sets out very clearly how to become more confident.

Tracy is the guru for sales skills and his books are very good.

Put your shoulders back, lift your chin, look people in the eye, and practice just being confident. As someone who's super shy and introverted, I know it's difficult sometimes to put ourselves out there. But you just do it, and eventually it becomes second nature to put on that face with others.

I was shy until I became a cheerleader. I was then outgoing. Still neurotic and embarrassed most of the time, but way more outgoing. Debate team, cheer, pageants, public speaking, reading to toddlers at the library, anything that puts you in front of people will erase fear and give you confidence. It will work on the shy's. You'll never be perfect though we are all self conscious to some extent but it will make you able to walk into situations without tummy aches, or sweaty palms one day.

I'm reading a book right now, called "You Are A Badass" by Jen Sincero. I'm about a third of the way through and it makes a lot of sense. I guess sometimes you just have to put yourself out there and not worry about what anyone else thinks.

No better feeling than breaking your PR and doing what you thought was impossible!
