Well, I'm certainly not one of them... just started, but if we get some of these weight loss superstars all into one place. These are the guys/gals some of us really want to hear from, their advice has gotta be solid gold.
I'm new, my goal is a meager 34 lbs weight-loss, from 234 to 200.

I started with a goal to lose 220 lbs. I'm down 100 in 15 weeks and it's been all diet changes. I could use some advice too from anyone who's lost and then kept it off. From what I've seen, heard, read, losing will be much easier than maintaining. Good luck to you and everyone else here. We rock!! :smokin:0

I just hit the 50 pound mark a few days ago. I weigh everyday. Today I was at 49 pounds lost. Weight fluctuations are a b*****.....
My only advice is to eat at a deficit. MFP calculates very well how much you should eat based on your profile. Get some exercise and don't eat all the exercise calories back. I eat about half my exercise back. I feel like MFP is a bit generous on calories burned during various activities.0 -
Anyone can do this. Stay strong and you can't lose.
Get rid of all the stuff in your diet you KNOW you shouldn't be eating. Junk foods, Fast foods, Soda, Candy, Cookie and so forth.
Also get rid of all the white poisons as well. White Flours, Sugars, Breads and such.
Drink LOTS of water- LOTS...at least 1/2 your bodyweight in Ounces. Really...Lots of water.
Eat small frequent meals. 5-8 times a day. This way you're never really hungry and won't have a week moment.
Exercise 3-5 times a week minimum...with weights. Lifting is not just for guys. The more muscle you build the
faster and better your metabolism.
Take a day 1 or before picture...then take pictures at least every 30 days and put them side by side to see the changes. It helps with keeping you motivated. Let's face it...we will look at ourselves naked every day. We won't notice the little changes that are happening everyday. Plus we are our biggest critic. Those pictures will REALLY help. You don't need to show anybody but you'll be happy you did.
DO NOT LOOK AT THIS A DIET. You go on a diet then you go off a diet. This is a lifestyle change. It's what our doctors
have been saying for years. Eat right and exercise.0 -

I lost 50lbs!
Umm well. Eat what you like, within reason. Restricting too much comes back to bite you in the form of a binge. Expect these changes to be lifelong, don't think you can do all this work then go back to how you used to eat. Be aware of where your food comes from, read the labels. I go for the fewest ingredients as possible for all the processed food I buy (like salsa, boxed mac & cheese, etc.).
Enjoy eating again, learn to make your favorite foods at home but healthier.
You can't out exercise a bad diet. Get your diet in check, eat at a deficit!0 -
Lol welcome0

I lost 57lb, which was a nice suprise as I log in KG
No idea what my goal would be. Probably losing no more than 90lbs total
Oh, and advice? Don't buy all the crap that made you fat in the first place! Unless you have a big group of people to share it with.0 -
What's helped me is what I just said on another thread- realizing this never stops. Then asking what can I reasonably live with for life. When I started exercising I thought what can I reasonably work into my schedule? For me, it's 4-6 days each week for 45-60 minutes. Same thing with my food. I try not to get super strict with it, like banishing entire food groups or items. Limit, yes, but not banish. I want to lose weight but I want to have a life, too. I don't want to freak out if I go to a party or out to eat.
So those are my tips. Best of luck to you!0 -
I'm a firm believer in whatever might work for me might not work for you or anyone else. I've lost 130 lbs, I'm 5'1.5 in height. Some say eat more to lose, I don't believe it works for me. I can't see how, and I won't do it, but if it works go for it, if not do what works for you.
I started out at 250 lbs, now at 120 lbs. I ate at a deficiency and it worked for me.0 -
Two years ago, I started at 278. I'm down to 138. . This is where I've been hovering for awhile. I'ld like to lose at least another 5-8 lbs. I changed my profile picture so you can see the before and after
My advise is to make a small change. When that's comfortable, make another. Every three weeks, I would would set another goal.
The key for me has been consistancy of working out and eating right.0 -
Drink water.....ditch all sodas (including "diet" sodas).
Don't eat things with ingredients you have never heard of, even if they are "diet".
Find several different kinds of exercise you enjoy and switch it up!
Good luck!0 -
Also make small goals along with the big goals.0
-
My ticker doesn't reflect it because I recently joined MFP but I have lost 80+ #. I still have 20# to "healthy" and 20 more to my personal goal.0
-
I've lost 51 lbs. It's a drop in the ocean in my case, but it's something! Good luck in your endeavors!0
