Consequences of being over on sugar?

Pre-logged dinner and I'm gonna be over on sugar today...but I really want an apple for a snack. I'm plenty under on calories.. do I do it? How bad is going over on sugar? Most of it's from fruit and yogurt.

There are no consequences. I'd never let MFP's really slow sugar limit restrict me from eating an apple :)

(I changed my sugar limit manually, and I still exceed it whenever I eat a banana).

Your day looks good. I'd suggest upping the ground turkey from 2 to 4 oz though, if you can. You could use some more protein and have the calories to do it.

Speaking in the context of weight loss, the calories are what matter. Going a little over on sugar isn't going to be a big deal unless you have blood sugar concerns.

Unless you have a medical issue that precludes you from eating sugar .... I would ignore it. MFP does not make a distinction between added sugar and naturally occuring sugar.

If your other macros are good (protein & fat) ...don't worry about the apple..... if has lots of nutrients & fiber

I mostly ignore the sugar limit as I enjoy fruit and green smoothies and have been losing fine.

Sugar is just a carb. As long as you're eating enough fats and protein, your carbs/sugar aren't particularly important unless you have a medical issue that requires carbs/sugar to be monitored.

However, it should be noted that fructose and sucrose can only be stored as liver glycogen and not muscle glycogen. The liver can hold 100-120g glycogen so anything more than that will be converted to triglycerides. As long as you still have a calorie deficit this will even out. Just try to make most of your carbs glucose and not sucrose or fructose. Fructose in particular has been shown to decrease exercise performance, increased likelihood of gastrointestinal distress, and increase perception of exertion.

    Here are some studies:

As long as you're under your calorie goal, you'll lose weight. Some people find that sugar (even from fruit) causes them to have more sugar/carb cravings so keep that in mind.

I updated my diary settings to exclude sugar for that reason. My sugar is pretty high daily from certain fruits, veggies, and whatever treat I have for the day. I can eat 2 servings of fruit and my sugar will be around 70g from that with everything else. Like said above, unless you have a medical concern, don't stress too much.
